To describe early functional outcomes of nerve transfer surgery in a relatively large cohort patients with acute flaccid myelitis (AFM).A retrospective case analysis was made AFM treated between 2007 and 2018. Surgical criteria were persistent motor deficits after 6 months from onset available donor nerves. Thirty-two evaluated; 16 underwent surgeries. Motor function evaluated by licensed occupational therapist using the Active Movement Scale preoperatively during follow-up examinations....

We describe a preliminary report of 3 cases ulnar neuropathy after coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection and treatment with intermittent prone positioning.Ulnar may be associated recent COVID-19 infection. The natural process the positioning are likely risk factors contributing to this finding. Conservative management seems lead improvement symptoms.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rapidly changed the landscape of health care, particularly in New York City area. The elderly population is vulnerable to both novel coronavirus and effects a fracture. goal this study was compare trends outcomes hip fracture patients during pandemic. This retrospective chart review from suburban academic hospital on Long Island, York, who presented March 1 May 30, 2020. Patient COVID-19 status, demographics, outcome measures were recorded. Background: External fixation has been traditionally used to treat comminuted or open distal radius fractures that are not amenable reduction internal fixation. This procedure is associated with a relatively high complication rate and decreasing frequency in recent years. However, trends external utilization for the treatment of have described. Methods: Using Nationwide Inpatient Sample, patients fracture treated from 2003 2014 were identified. The annual incidence was reported, hospital...

Background . Dorsal spanning plate fixation is an increasingly popular method of for certain distal radius fractures. Published outcomes are encouraging, but complications still reported. Methods We present a case report 26-year-old woman with breakage and extensor pollicis longus (EPL) metallosis, fraying, near-complete rupture. The patient’s unsuccessful follow-up led to this complication. Metallosis damage the indices (EI) carpi radialis (ECRL) were intraoperative obstacles tendon...

Background Dorsal bridge plate fixation is an effective technique for stabilization of highly comminuted, complex distal radius fractures. However, it unknown whether to the second or third metacarpal optimal. Given dorsal plating spans radiocarpal joint, unclear if spanning affects carpal position.
