Two samples of tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum Gaertn.) from China and one Luxembourg were studied by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to reveal the possibilities growing herb as a possible source rutin, quercetin, quercitrin. The content rutin was determined up 3% dry weight (DW) in herb. Quercitrin values range 0.01−0.05% DW. Only traces quercetin detected just some samples. Tartary seeds contained more (about 0.8−1.7% DW) than common (0.01% DW). Rutin depends on...

The content of the flavonoid rutin was determined in different milling fractions buckwheat seeds and stems, leaves, flowers. extraction performed by using a solvent containing 60% ethanol 5% ammonia water. extracts were analyzed capillary electrophoresis (running buffer 50 mM borate (pH 9.3), 100 sodium dodecyl sulfate; determination at 380 nm). In bran concentration 131−476 ppm, flour 19−168 ppm. On average, about 300, 1000, 46000 ppm found flowers, respectively. results indicate that could...

The nutritional characteristics of buckwheat starch were studied to identify the possibility for reduced postmeal metabolic responses various products. in vitro rate hydrolysis and resistant (RS) formation boiled groats a series breads, baked with 30−70% flour (BWF) or (BWG), respectively, evaluated vitro. In parallel, postprandial glucose insulin also satiety score BWG wheat bread 50% as compared reference white (WWB) healthy humans. highest concentration RS was found (6% total basis)....

The impact of bread making and baking procedure on rutin, quercetin polyphenol concentration antioxidant activity tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum) breads made mixtures wheat flour was studied. A decrease in through observed all samples. high DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl) scavenging capacity mixed (32−56%) (85−90%) decreased slightly the process, while an increase 100% during observed. With addition water to containing preparation dough, rutin decreased, increased. continued...

Abstract Background Tartary buckwheat, Fagopyrum tataricum , is a pseudocereal crop with worldwide distribution and high nutritional value. However, the origin domestication history of this remain to be elucidated. Results Here, by analyzing population genomics 567 accessions collected reviewing historical documents, we find that buckwheat originated in Himalayan region then spread southwest possibly along migration Yi people, minority Southwestern China has long planting buckwheat. Along...

ABSTRACT Buckwheat seeds ( Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) were milled into 23 fractions: seven fine flours, three coarse four small semolina, two big six bran, and one husk fraction. A considerable variation in gross chemical composition was found among the milling fractions. The protein content varied from 4.4 to 11.9% (db) flours 19.2 31.3% bran fractions; starch 91.7 70.4% 42.6 20.3 bran. percentage of soluble dietary fiber contained total higher than semolina Ash, Fe, P, tannin, phytate...

Mature developed seeds are physiologically and biochemically committed to store nutrients, principally as starch, protein, oils, minerals. The composition distribution of elements inside the aleurone cell layer reflect their biogenesis, structural characteristics, physiological functions. It is therefore primary importance understand mechanisms underlying metal ion accumulation, distribution, storage, bioavailability in subcellular organelles for seed fortification purposes. Buckwheat food is a good source of antioxidants, e.g. rutin, and other beneficial substances. Here we investigated the effects intake common buckwheat (low rutin content) tartary cookies (high on selected clinical markers. A double blind crossover study was performed among female day-care centre staffs (N = 62) from five centres. Participants were randomly divided into two groups. The first group initially consumed four per day (16.5 mg equivalents/day) for weeks, while second (359.7...

Summary Little is known about the molecular mechanism of R2R3‐ MYB transcriptional repressors involved in plant phenylpropanoid metabolism. Here, we describe one R2R3‐type repressor, Ft 11 from Fagopyrum tataricum . It contains SID ‐like motif GGDFNFDL and it regulated by both importin protein ‘Sensitive to ABA Drought 2’ ( SAD 2) jasmonates signalling cascade repressor JAZ protein. Yeast two hybrid bimolecular fluorescence complementation assays demonstrated that interacts with 2 1....

Common buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench, CB) and Tartary tataricum (L.) Gaertn., TB) are used in human nutrition. The idea to screen the haploid phase for genes affecting low amylose concentration opens possibility effective search of (waxy) genotypes CB populations. Self-pollinated homozygous plants TB might allow us use a part endosperm screening content. Phenolic substances have significant inhibitory effect on digestion proteins, thus metabolites may impact protein digestibility....

Biological systems are unique matter with very complex morphology and highly heterogeneous chemical composition dominated by light elements. Discriminating qualitatively at the sub-micrometer level lateral distribution of constituent elements, correlating it to sub-cellular biological structure, continues be a challenge. The low-energy X-ray fluorescence microspectroscopy, recently implemented in TwinMic scanning transmission mode, has opened up new opportunities for mapping complemented...
