ABSTRACT The primary aim of this body work is to investigate the effect an industrial scale electron beam sterilization process on novel PNVCL‐based smart polymers. There limited literature available that examines effects modifying PNVCL by irradiation, and as a means potentially enhancing properties such lower critical solution temperature mechanical behavior. Physically crosslinked poly( N ‐vinylcaprolactam)–vinyl acetate (PNVCL–VAc) copolymers were prepared photopolymerization...

Exposing smart materials to electron beam radiation can induce free radical reactions, such as chain branching or crosslinking, hence enhancing the characteristics of polymers. Poly (N-vinylcaprolactam) (PNVCL) is a material which was synthesised by photopolymerisation. Subsequently, samples were exposed technology, where irradiation utilised in novel approach. This led modification rheological and phase transition properties. Modifying PNVCL through opens new avenues potential applications...
