Under a warming climate, permafrost degradation has resulted in profound hydrogeological consequences. Here, we mainly review 240 recent relevant papers. Permafrost boosted groundwater storage and discharge to surface runoffs through improving hydraulic connectivity reactivation of flow systems, resulting reduced summer peaks, delayed autumn flattened annual hydrographs, deepening elongating paths. As result degradation, lowlands underlain by more continuous, colder, thicker are getting...

The history of permafrost landscape map compilation is related to the study ecological problems with permafrost. Permafrost-landscape studies are now widely used in geocryological mapping. classifications and mapping necessary for studying trends development natural environment northern high-altitude regions. cryogenic factor zone plays a leading role differentiation landscapes, so it must be considered during classification construction. In this study, map’s special content was developed...

River feed and flow regime in the Anadyr lowland remain stable with significant interannual fluctuations amount of summer precipitation (70-180 mm). The lack is compensated by suprapermafrost groundwater active layer, which formed meltwater from seasonal underground ice. In July 2019, complex permafrost-hydrological studies were conducted Ugolnaya-Dionisia river basin (Chukotka, Russia) to determine patterns formation dynamics surface runoff. Seasonal layer storage that as a result melting...

An analysis of the groundwater and permafrost interaction is presented in this study. The based on an extensive review scientific literature our own investigations. article specifically examines significant impact phase changes between liquid solid states groundwater, including freezing aquifers thawing ice-rich permafrost. discussion highlights essential characteristics interactions with frozen ground regions.

The research conducted has yielded, for the first time, a quantitative evaluation of NDWI (Normalized Difference Water Index) purpose identifying areas natural and technogenic aufeis within Southern Yakutia. In contrast to widely used NDSI Snow in investigations, offers advantage delineating contours without being influenced by presence or absence snow cover. Calculations pertaining “Gorbyllakh” “Durai” sections Federal Highway “Lena” during winters 2020–2021 2021–2022 indicate notable...

Formation of aufeises (naleds) is rather widely distributed cryogenic process in the permafrost zone, therefore naleds are reasonably called seasonal glaciation planet. The ever-increasing interest significantly extends thematic focus studying them. Various methodological approaches (basin, geological-structural, lithologic-facies, statistical, etc.) used to reveal regularities aufeis occurrence. Using several river basins Yakutia and its territory as examples, perspectivity basin approach...

In this study, we reviewed and summarized the data on permafrost groundwater areas of Central Yakutia to understand formation distribution subpermafrost mineral waters sodium bicarbonate chloride-bicarbonate types, evaluate their potential use for medical purposes. Analysis indicated that these low-mineralized groundwaters are basic analogues Maykop Karachi waters, with no particular bioactive components. These water types contain 400 1200 mg/dm3 bicarbonates, 100 600 chlorides, 50 250...
