Objective We sought to describe characteristics of children admitted with pericardial effusion (PCE) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) determine the association between PCE outcomes interest. Methods performed a retrospective cohort study Pediatric Health Information System (PHIS). Patients were included if they PHIS participating hospital from 2004 2015 diagnosis SLE age ≤18 years. Children congenital heart disease or who had undergone surgery excluded. was primary predictor variable;...
Abstract Transcatheter closure has become a common treatment method for patent ductus arteriosus in premature infants at many centres; however, remain uncertain about the ability to perform procedure catheterisation laboratory requiring high-frequency ventilation. This study presents our centre’s experience following implementation of neonatal ventilatory guidelines, which resulted 100% procedural success without any or respiratory adverse events.
<title>Abstract</title> Background: Patients born with single ventricle physiology typically undergo surgical palliation in three stages, culminating the Fontan procedure. Assessment of flow across a fenestration by Doppler Ultrasound theoretically allows for non-invasive estimation transpulmonary gradient (TPG). Our objective was to determine relationship between Doppler-derived mean (mFG) and direct catheter-based measurements TPG patients fenestrated Fontans....
Coronary sinus ostial obstruction is an exceedingly rare anomaly that particularly important to diagnose in patients with single-ventricle heart disease before surgical palliation. We present 2 cases, infant and adult, diagnosed coronary obstruction, different clinical outcomes due timing of diagnosis. (Level Difficulty: Intermediate.)
Major aortopulmonary collateral arteries in the setting of pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum are very rarely encountered, having been documented only a handful case reports. We present right ventriculogram patient found to have this rare combination findings along ventricular-dependent coronary artery circulation and unusual supply artery.
Coronary artery fistula is a rare but well-documented complication of right ventricular endomyocardial biopsy, particularly in the adult population. Typically, these fistulae never reach clinical or hemodynamic significance, some may cause coronary steal and dysfunction. We report case significant requiring device closure cardiac catheterization laboratory with subsequent improvement symptoms function.
Abstract Background Following heart transplantation (HTx), long-term survival is reduced mainly due to development of a specific form coronary artery disease, allograft vasculopathy (CAV). Using optical coherence tomography visualize the wall, we have recently shown that layered fibrotic plaques resembling organized clots are dominant plaque component in CAV. Thus, thrombosis suggested as possible mechanism contributing and progression Aspirin widely used after HTx despite limited evidence...
We report a case of newborn infant with coarctation the aorta and hypoplastic transverse aortic arch who was found to have circumaortic double left innominate vein on echocardiography. This exceedingly rare finding important for surgical planning confirmed during congenital heart surgery.
