To review available drug-resistance patterns of HIV proteinase inhibitors, in particular saquinavir (formerly known as Ro 31-8959), focusing on the implications for disease management.Reduced sensitivity to appears develop slowly and at low frequency even during prolonged therapy, with an incidence approximately 45% 1 year monotherapy. This reduced is consistently associated presence two independent mutations gene, glycine-->valine position 48 leucine-->methionine 90, latter predominating...

Visual deficits after traumatic brain injury (TBI) are common, but interventions that limit the post-trauma impairments have not been identified. We found treatment with cannabinoid type-2 receptor (CB2) inverse agonist SMM-189 for 2 weeks closed-head blast TBI greatly attenuates visual and retinal pathology this otherwise produces in mice, by modulating deleterious role of microglia process trauma. SMM-189, however, has yet approved human use. Raloxifene is an FDA-approved estrogen drug...

A preliminary study is made of simultaneous and lagged seasonal cross correlations between northern Australian sea level district rainfall anomalies. Zero-lagged patterns show strong links with the El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) phenomenon over eastern Australia during austral winter-spring seasons. These findings are similar to, but more robust than, those reported for either southern oscillation index, Darwin mean pressure, or surface temperatures. This appears to be a consequence...

To investigate whether alteration in interferon (IFN) production might serve as a biomarker for certain toxic chemical exposures, an vivo mouse model system was studied. Female C3H mice were injected intraperitoneally with varying doses of benzo[a]pyrene (BP), and at various times subsequent to this treatment, serum IFN levels, following Sendai virus induction, determined by cytopathic effect inhibition assay. Doses 4.6 mg/mouse (180 mg/kg body weight) caused significant depression 12, 48,...

Aortic complications during cannulation must be managed urgently and often require hypothermic circulatory arrest. We report a unique management strategy to repair an aortic tear without dissection by modifying Dacron ascending graft with side-arm.A 32-year-old female patient undergoing reoperative cardiac surgery suffered unexpected for cardiopulmonary bypass. The was repaired utilizing physician-modified side-arm, in which the surrounding skirt of side-arm cut from circumferential patch...

Coronary sinus ostial obstruction is an exceedingly rare anomaly that particularly important to diagnose in patients with single-ventricle heart disease before surgical palliation. We present 2 cases, infant and adult, diagnosed coronary obstruction, different clinical outcomes due timing of diagnosis. (Level Difficulty: Intermediate.)

Abstract
Circulating nucleic acids (CNA) isolated from serum or plasma are increasingly recognized as biomarkers for cancers. Recently developed next generation sequencing provides high numbers of DNA sequences to detect the trace amounts unique associated with breast carcinoma.
