There is an urgent need to improve the infrastructure supporting reuse of scholarly data. A diverse set stakeholders-representing academia, industry, funding agencies, and publishers-have come together design jointly endorse a concise measureable principles that we refer as FAIR Data Principles. The intent these may act guideline for those wishing enhance reusability their data holdings. Distinct from peer initiatives focus on human scholar, Principles put specific emphasis enhancing ability...
The FAIR principles have been widely cited, endorsed and adopted by a broad range of stakeholders since their publication in 2016. By intention, the 15 guiding do not dictate specific technological implementations, but provide guidance for improving Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability Reusability digital resources. This has likely contributed to adoption principles, because individual stakeholder communities can implement own solutions. However, it also resulted inconsistent...
The wide variety of scientific user communities work with data since many years and thus have already a infrastructures in production today. aim this paper is not to create one new general architecture that would fail be adopted by each any individual community. Instead contribution aims design reference model abstract entities able federate existing concrete under umbrella. A an framework for understanding significant relationships between them helps understand when comparing terms...
Data science is facing the following major challenges: (1) developing scalable cross-disciplinary capabilities, (2) dealing with increasing data volumes and their inherent complexity, (3) building tools that help to build trust, (4) creating mechanisms efficiently operate in domain of scientific assertions, (5) turning into actionable knowledge units (6) promoting interoperability. As a way overcome these challenges, we further develop proposals by early Internet pioneers for Digital Objects...
A project has beenstarted to create a distributed testbed based on FDOs and using the DOIP protocol. This paper describes intentions required components build such testbed. It can beseen as first step towards an international FDO
The Global Integrated Dataspace (GIDS) will come to finally reduce the costs for data-driven work substantially. It be based on a minimal standard which transparent rights data, but nevertheless transport usage information additional federation layers are now called dataspaces. Partners in dataspaces may agree terms such as roles, their use etc. and they apply some dataspace technology that control of data metadata. For basic FAIR Digital Objects suitable candidates. advanced technologies...
The digitalization of industrial production (Industrie 4.0 - the comprehensive production), science, and public sector (Government administration automation work processes in sector) is converging to form a Global Integrated Data Space (GIDS). concepts Industrie Industrial Internet Things require standardized technologies, trustworthy sovereign data ecosystems with interoperable protocols for connection, exchange, transfer, an integrated legal framework enabling automated smart data. These...
The FDO One project aims at building a global integrated dataspace based on FAIR digital objects (FDOs). project's main contributions are the development of publicly accessible infrastructure, an international testbed and bridges between multiple emerging dataspaces. These dataspaces defined by important industrial standards, such as Eclipse Dataspace Connector (EDC) implementing specifications IDSA industry 4.0-technology Asset Administration Shell (AAS). A layered architecture basis for...
The major aim of the study was to develop and validate volunteer motivations scale for international sporting events (VMS-ISE). A growing body literature suggested that vary with nature activity context. Although numerous studies have identified various motivational factors on human services in general, little has attempted conduct a at mega events. In study, using 2002 FIFA World Cup sample, exploratory factor confirmatory analyses revealed six-factor solution: expression values,...
The EUDAT project is a pan-European data initiative that started in October 2011. brings together unique consortium of 25 partners – including research communities, national and high performance computing (HPC) centres, technology providers, funding agencies from 13 countries. aims to build sustainable cross-disciplinary cross-national infrastructure provides set shared services for accessing preserving data.
We propose a Random-Forest based sign language identification system. The system uses low-level visual features and is on the hypothesis that languages have varying distributions of phonemes (hand-shapes, locations movements). evaluated two - British SL Greek SL, both taken from publicly available corpus, called Dicta Sign Corpus. Achieved average F1 scores are about 95% indicating can be identified with high accuracy using only features.
Much research is dependent on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Researchers in different domains have set up their own ICT systems (data labs) to support research, from data collection (observation, experiment, simulation) through analysis (analytics, visualisation) publication. However, too frequently the Digital Objects (DOs) upon which results are based not curated thus neither available for reproduction of nor utilization other (e.g., multidisciplinary) purposes. The key...
In this paper we describe with the help of two examples how FAIR Digital Objects can be used to bridge between different dataspaces, repositories using technologies, and model worlds. The first example is digital specimen as defined by DiSSCO which offers access a variety information from in persistent way. second results collaboration I4.0 Asset Administration Shell experts where integrate domains Product Pass an example. also show FDOs implement secure on shared data it occurs almost all...
