Abstract. Compared to natives, immigrants have been reported display either more (migration morbidity) or fewer (immigrant paradox) adjustment problems. We examined these two perspectives using a meta-analysis from 51 studies (N = 224,197), reporting internalizing, externalizing, and academic outcomes among immigrant children youth in Europe. Overall, migration morbidity was better supported than the paradox. Migration for (a) externalizing Northern Europe adolescent samples; (b) low SES...
Positive youth development (PYD) has gained considerable traction among developmental scientists, but past studies were generally conducted samples from Minority World countries. This study investigated the factorial validity of newly developed 7Cs model PYD (competence, confidence, connection, character, caring, contribution, and creativity). Specifically, we compared four measurement models (one-factor, seven-factor, higher order, bifactor) emerging adults living in five Southeast Asian...
This article investigated the dimensionality, measurement invariance, and cross-cultural variations of social desirability. A total 3,471 university students from 20 countries completed an adapted version Marlowe–Crowne scale. two-dimensional structure was revealed in pooled sample, distinguishing enhancement (endorsement positive self-description) denial (rejection negative self-description). The factor supported most countries; medium-sized item bias found two items. In a multilevel...
This study aims to evaluate a number of procedures that have been proposed enhance cross–cultural comparability personality and value data. A priori (anchoring vignettes direct measures response styles (i.e. acquiescence, extremity, midpoint responding, social desirability), posteriori focusing on data transformations prior analysis (ipsatization item parcelling), two modelling (treating as continuous vs ordered categories) were compared using collected from university students in 16...

Results indicated that, expected, youth reported lower levels of wellbeing than youth. The latter revealed a weaker youth, whereas no ethnic differences emerged...
There is hardly any cross-cultural research on the measurement invariance of Brief Multidimensional Students’ Life Satisfaction Scales (BMSLSS). The current article evaluates BMSLSS across cultural contexts. This cross-sectional study sampled 7,739 adolescents and emerging adults in 23 countries. A multi-group confirmatory factor analysis showed a good fit configural partial weights models, indicating similar patterns strengths loading for both various We found insufficient evidence scalar...

The current study examined measurement invariance of the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS; Diener, Emmons, Larsen, & Griffin, 1985) across three immigrant groups, namely, immigrants from Former Soviet Union (FSU) in Israel, Turkish-Bulgarians, and Turkish-Germans. results demonstrate SWLS groups. findings that Turkish-Bulgarian FSU Israel scored significantly lower on compared to Turkish-Germans can be explained by assimilative policies Bulgaria. In conclusion, our suggest is feasible for...
