A facile synthesis of the [ReF6 ](2-) ion and its use as a building block to synthesize magnetic systems are reported. Using dc ac susceptibility measurements, INS EPR spectroscopies, properties isolated unit in (PPh4 )2 ]⋅2 H2 O (1) have been fully studied including slow relaxation magnetization observed below ca. 4 K. This dynamic is preserved for one-dimensional coordination polymer [Zn(viz)4 (ReF6 )]∞ (2, viz=1-vinylimidazole), demonstrating irrelevance low symmetry such dynamics with...

Abstract The tailored chemical synthesis of binary and ternary alloy nanoparticles with a uniform elemental composition is presented. Their dual use as magnetic susceptors for induction heating catalytic agent steam reforming methane to produce hydrogen at temperatures near above 800 °C demonstrated. performance two chemically synthesized samples CoNi Cu ⊂ are compared held against traditional Ni‐based catalyst. structural, magnetic, properties the were characterized by X‐ray diffraction,...

Exploitation of HSAB preferences allows for high-yield, one-pot syntheses lanthanide complexes chelated by two Pd or Pt metalloligands, [MII(SAc)4]2- (SAc- = thioacetate, M Pd, Pt). The resulting with 8 oxygen donors surrounding the lanthanides can be isolated in crystallographically tetragonal environments as either [NEt4]+ (space group: P4/mcc) [PPh4]+ P4/n) salts. In case Pt, complete series has been structurally characterized salts (except Ln Pm), while have Gd-Er, Y. For selected both...

Induction heating by magnetic hysteresis of nanoparticles inside chemical reactors is an interesting approach for direct and electrified high-temperature endothermic catalytic reactions. Here, we show how it possible to tune the induction steam methane reforming use alumina-supported CoxNi(100–x) with well-defined alloy compositions from x = 20 90. The ∼30 nm Co–Ni particles function both as a catalyst susceptor. We find that increases increasing Ni content at lower temperatures smaller...

β-Diketonates, such as acetylacetonate, are amongst the most common bidentate ligands towards elements across entire periodic table and considered wholly redox-inactive in their complexes. Herein we show that complexation of 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoroacetylacetonate (hfac- ) to CrII spontaneously affords CrIII a reduced β-diketonate radical ligand scaffold, evidenced by crystallographic analysis, magnetic measurements, optical spectroscopy, reactivity studies, DFT calculations. The possibility...

Achieving control over coordination geometries in lanthanide complexes remains a challenge to the chemist. This is particularly case field of molecule-based magnetism, where barriers for magnetic relaxation processes as well tunneling pathways are strongly influenced by geometry. Addressing design 4f-element environments, ubiquitous Ln(hfac)3 moieties have been shown be applicable Lewis acids coordinating transition metal acetylacetonates facially leading simple, chiral lanthanide–transition...
