Up to 30% of the plant transcriptome is circadian clock-regulated in different species; however, we still lack a good understanding mechanisms involved these genome-wide oscillations gene expression. Here, show that PSEUDO-RESPONSE REGULATOR 7 (PRR7), central component Arabidopsis clock, directly repression master regulators growth, light signaling and stress responses. The expression levels most PRR7 target genes peak around dawn, an antiphasic manner protein levels, were repressed by PRR7....
Many naturally occurring materials, such as wood and bone, have intricate porous micro-structures high stiffness toughness to density ratios. Here, the influence of pores in a material on crack dynamics brittle fracture is investigated. A dynamic phase field finite element model used study effects with respect path, propagation velocity energy release rate strip specimen geometry circular pores. Four different ordered pore distributions are considered, well randomly distributed The results...
Summary To gain new insights into the mechanism underlying cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS), we compared nuclear gene expression profiles of flowers a Brassica napus CMS line with that fertile B. maintainer using Arabidopsis thaliana flower‐specific cDNA microarrays. The used has genome, but rearranged mitochondrial (mt) genome consisting both and A. DNA. Gene profiling revealed large number genes differed in between two lines. For example, coding for proteins are involved protein import...
Abstract Computational models are commonly used to investigate how the cortical bone microstructure affects fracture resistance; recently, phase-field have been introduced for this purpose. However, experimentally measured material parameters microstructural tissues lacking. Moreover, as no validation studies published, it remains unclear what extent classical methods, assuming linear-elastic, brittle fracture, accurately represent bone. In study, we address both these shortcomings by first...
Objective: To compare characteristics and outcome of patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in clinics with (WSB) or without (NOSB) on-site cardiac surgery backup. Design: Analysis according to hospital, type prospectively collected data all who underwent PCI during 2000–3. Setting: The Swedish Coronary Angiography Angioplasty Registry covers procedures performed Sweden. Patients: 34 363 between January 2000 December 2003. 8838 were NOSB...
The adsorption of H\ensuremath{\cdot}, ${\mathrm{CH}}_{3}$\ensuremath{\cdot}, ${\mathrm{CH}}_{2}$, CH\ensuremath{\cdot}, ${\mathrm{C}}_{2}$H\ensuremath{\cdot}, and ${\mathrm{C}}_{2}$${\mathrm{H}}_{2}$ on hydrogen-terminated (111) surfaces diamond has been investigated theoretically. Ab initio molecular-orbital theory was used in order to calculate the relative energies these different hydrocarbon species. effects electron correlation, included by means second-order Mo/ller-Plesset theory,...
It is shown for the first time that superconducting YBa2Cu3O7−x phase can be deposited by chemical vapor deposition using halide precursors YCl3, BaI2, and CuCl as metal sources an O2/H2O gas mixture. Sintered calcium stabilized zirconia plates were used substrates. The superconductor was obtained upon without need post-annealing. An ideal (001) texture always found to prevail.
The high-throughput expression analysis technologies available today give scientists an overflow of profiles but their resolution in terms tissue specific is limited because problems dissecting individual tissues. Expression data needs to be confirmed and complemented with patterns using e.g. situ hybridization, a technique used localize cell mRNA expression. hybridization method laborious, time-consuming often requires extensive optimization depending on species tissue. In experiments are...
Using an experimental setup, with a high-speed camera to track crack tip velocity, dynamic fracture is studied in wood fibre polylactic acid (PLA) composite and pure PLA. The experiments are analysed quantitatively terms of the relation between energy release rate qualitatively branching occurrence surface appearance. Branching occurs frequently PLA specimens but not specimens, spite high rates. Scanning electron microscopy images surfaces show that materials rugged uneven compared PLA,...
The sensitivity of compressive strength a polymeric Kelvin lattice to the presence an epoxy core has been investigated both experimentally and numerically. Crush bands develop in empty lattice, with large oscillations load due geometric softening sequential fracture successive layers struts. In contrast, sufficiently high modulus that outward lateral flow through open-cell is negligible: boundary layer, wherein migration occurs extends less than one cell size from surface specimen. supports...
The adsorption of H or F species on B vs N atoms the h-BN (001) surface has been investigated theoretically within DFT method, using a cluster approach. Only boron were subjected to local transformation from hexagonal cubic phase. It occurred either upon species. For latter situation, neighboring atom was substituted by C and, hence, number electrons in system increased. nitrogen did not undergo, with one exception, any phase transformation. resulted sp2 sp3 hybridization hereby connected...
Atomic layer epitaxy (ALE) of from and has been studied. These precursors were found to yield very low deposition rates. This was attributed a poor adsorption on the oxide surface. Attempts increase metal source by in situ generation tungsten subfluorides unsuccessful due severe etching problems. Our results, however, showed that different compounds are good candidates for ALE . The oxyfluorides generated lumps with at temperatures up 600°C. No analysis carried out, but thermodynamic...
Abstract Boron nitride thin films have been grown by both laser‐assisted, and conventional atomic layer deposition (LALD/ALD) at temperatures in the range 250–750 °C. Both NH 3 BBr precursors were appreciably dissociated ArF excimer laser, up to 600 °C, growth rate was 100 % higher for LALD process than ALD. The consisted of hydrogen‐terminated turbostratic BN grains. H 2 theoretically found bind as strongly X ( = 0–2) hBN(100) edges. fresh stoichiometric with respect B N, contained low...
Palladium nanoparticles were deposited using a sequential electroless deposition technique on the pore walls of nanoporous anodic alumina. For particle Pd(NH3)42+ solution was soaked in alumina membrane and heated air flow applied order to reduce palladium complex metal nanoparticles. By repeating process size could be tailored this investigation between 6 11nm. The also affected by concentration solution, i.e., higher yielded larger mean diameters. samples investigated high resolution...
In phase field methods for fracture, versatility is acquired at the cost of addition a new parameter, length scale parameter. The parameter affects notch sensitivity, which in cellular materials typically related to lengths material microstructure. Here, relation between this and observable microstructural investigated numerically, specifically derived using statistical geometry random Voronoi tessellations. It found that fracture load homogeneous continuum model (i.e. macroscopic model)...
