In this study, we identified the phlebotomine sandfly vectors involved in transmission of American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (ACL) Assis Brasil, Acre, Brazil, which is located on Brazil-Peru-Bolivia frontier. The genotyping Leishmania phlebotomines was performed using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism. A total 6,850 sandflies comprising 67 species were captured by CDC light traps rural areas municipality. Three found state Acre for first time:...
Despite advances in malaria chemotherapy, the disease continues to claim thousands of lives annually. Addressing this issue requires discovery new compounds counteract resistance threatening current therapeutic arsenal. In context, bi-triazoles are substances with diverse biological activities, showing promise as lead compound fight malaria. Triazoles heterocyclic structures composed five members, including three nitrogen atoms and two double bonds. Bi-triazoles, focus study, derivatives...
Phlebotomine sand flies (Diptera: Psychodidae) are insects of medical importance due to the role that some species play in transmission leishmaniasis. This work aimed study ecological aspects among fauna inhabiting two different environments: várzea (lowland Amazonian forest) and terra firme (upland forest), both located Tefé Municipality, Amazonas State, Braziland detect Leishmania infection those phlebotomine populations. Sand were collected using HP light traps. Collection took place over...
In this study, Leishmania species were identified by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). The epidemiology of patients suspected having American Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in the municipality Assis Brasil, Acre State, located Brazil/Peru/Bolivia tri-border was also investigated. By PCR, DNA detected 100% cases (37 samples) and a PCR-Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) hsp 70 gene 32 samples: (Viannia) braziliensis (65.6%) , L. (V.) shawi (28.1%) guyanensis (3.1%) mixed infection...
INTRODUCTION: Malaria and leishmaniasis are prevalent in tropical regions, which have environmental characteristics that highly favorable to protozoa vectors of these diseases; the transmission infections sub-tropical although recognized, represents only a small fraction cases. Plants constantly being used search for acquisition new drugs, many compounds derived from them been combat various diseases. In this study, we evaluated action dichloromethanolic extract Myrciaria dubia leaves...
Skin secretions of frogs have a high chemical complexity. They diverse types biomolecules, such as proteins, peptides, biogenic amines, and alkaloids. These compounds protect amphibians' skin against growth bacteria, fungi, protozoa participate in defense system attack from predators. Therewith, this work performed biochemical biological profile macroglands parotoid secretion cane toad. For poison analysis, we molecular exclusion reverse phase chromatography, electrophoresis, mass...
This study evaluated the species composition of sand flies and identified potential vectors Leishmania Ross in rural areas Porto Velho, Rondônia State, Brazil. American cutaneous leishmaniasis (ACL) is one gravest threats to public health this state. Sand were collected over course 2014 2015 using HP light traps. Polymerase chain reaction was performed by targeting mkDNA region. In total, 2,344 collected, from which 45 species, nine subgenera, five group identified. The most abundant...
This study assessed the activity of compounds from Piper tuberculatum against Plasmodium falciparum and Leishmania guyanensis. The effects P. fruits on L. guyanensis promastigote growth in vitro were determined. Hemolytic action cytotoxicity HepG2 J774 cells measured.Three showed strong antiplasmodial one compound antileishmanial activity. Two non-toxic to all toxic cells. The no hemolytic activity. The tested exhibited antiparasitic cytotoxic effects.
This study describes the epidemiological profile of American cutaneous leishmaniasis in Assis Brasil, a town located at border Brazil, Peru and Bolivia, between 2003 2010. Leishmaniasis case files were reviewed frequencies compared using Fisher Exact Test or Chi-square. There 579 cases recorded, with detection coefficient 191 82 per 10,000 inhabitants 2010, respectively. Cases more frequent males (63.0%), persons living rural areas (72.3%), those environment-related jobs (52.5%). Around81%...
The search for bioactive compounds against diseases is imperative and the richness of Amazon provides a large source to be explored. Current therapies treatment parasitic infections have severe side effects low efficacy, which makes development an effective chemotherapy extremely important. In this study, we describe isolation styrylpyrone 4-methoxy-6-(11,12-methylenedioxy-trans-styryl)-2-pyrone (SP), from Amazonian tree species, Aniba panurensis, in vitro activity Leishmania amazonensis...
INTRODUCTION Leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, and malaria cause morbidity globally. The drugs currently used for treatment have limitations. Activity of cinnamic acid analogs against Leishmania spp., Trypanosoma cruzi, Plasmodium falciparum was evaluated in the interest identifying new antiprotozoal compounds. METHODS In vitro effects L. braziliensis, infantum chagasi, T. P. falciparum, hemolytic cytotoxic activities on NCTC 929 were determined. RESULTS Three showed leishmanicidal tripanocidal...
Background: A series of bi-triazoles conjugates 1,2,3 and 1,2,4 was synthesized with an aim to study the evaluation antimalarial profile families triazole derivatives. The used W2 strain Plasmodium falciparum (Chloroquine-Resistant), determine inhibitory concentration 50% parasites (IC50) HepG2 cells describe cytotoxic for (CC50). Among classes, stood out IC50 values between 8.9 0.45 μM; highlighted compound 14d (IC50 ± 0.02 μM) most promising result. Regarding concentration, all compounds...
