Abstract Aiming at the problem of poor corrosion resistance aluminum alloy drill pipe materials in an alkaline environment, innovative short basalt fiber/aluminum composite is prepared by vacuum hot‐press sintering technique. A kind of coating suitable for green sand steel casting was developed. The practical application showed that the strength high enough with no crack and peeling under room temperature after drying spraying coating, performance anti-cracking good temperature, gas evolution low. Using surfaces finish appeared very good.
