High-density low-crosstalk waveguide superlattices can potentially help shrink the pitch of an optical phased array to half-wavelength, which may lead superior beam characteristics. While a superlattice's longitudinal coherence is exploited create phase mismatch and reduce crosstalk, its transverse also modified will inevitably disturb forming array. Our theory shows that be balanced in nontrivial superlattice such superlattice-induced disturbance suppressed without compromising crosstalk....

We report a supercontinuum source generated in seven-core photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) pumped by self-made all-fiber picosecond pulsed broadband fiber amplifier. The amplifier's output average power is 60 W at 1150 nm with spectral width of 260 nm, and its repetition rate 8.47 MHz pulse 221 ps. With two different lengths PCF, powers spectra are obtained. When 10 m long PCF chosen, the covers wavelength range from 620 to 1700 11.7 W. only 2 used same experiment, spans 680 20.4 results show...

The hyperfine structure absorption lines of neutral hydrogen in spectra high-redshift radio sources, known collectively as the 21-cm forest, have been demonstrated a sensitive probe to small-scale structures governed by dark matter (DM) properties, well thermal history intergalactic medium regulated first galaxies during epoch reionization. By statistically analyzing these spectral features, one-dimensional (1D) power spectrum forest can effectively break parameter degeneracies and constrain...

In this work, we design and fabricate a highly compact third-order racetrack add-drop filter consisting of silicon waveguides with modified widths on silicon-on-insulator (SOI) wafer. Compared to the previous approach that requires an exceedingly narrow coupling gap less than 100nm, propose new enlarges minimum feature size whole device be 300 nm reduce process requirement. The three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (3D-FDTD) method is used for simulation. Experiment results show...

This work introduces a 2×2 silicon thermo-optical switch based on photonic crystal waveguides. Photonic waveguides (PCWs) were used to replace conventional channel in the phase shifters of Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI). device was fabricated silicon-on-insulator (SOI) platform. The active length PCWs-based shifter only 50μm. Because slow light effect PCWs, heat needed generate shift π reduced dramatically. experiment results showed that power for is 6 times less than MZI optical switches.

We demonstrate a photonic crystal (PhC) waveguide modulator based on Mach-Zehnder Interferometer (MZI) configuration silicon-on-insulator (SOI) substrate. A p-n junction is embedded in the PhC such that carrier concentrations can be changed with applied voltage, which changes refractive index of silicon material forming waveguide. Our designed to work at 1550 nm. The slow light effect enhance light-matter interaction, helps achieve sufficient modulation short interaction length around 100...

The crucial factors governing the behavior of waveguide superlattice-based optical phased arrays are investigated. superlattice-induced extra lobes can be minimized with sophisticated supercells while inter-waveguide crosstalk still needs to judiciously balanced.
