We describe a case of severe hypomagnesemia that occurred during treatment with carboplatin (CBDCA) and nanoparticle albumin-bound paclitaxel (nab-PTX) for lung adenocarcinoma when co-administered vonoprazan. A man in his 70s was diagnosed stage IIIA received CBDCA nab-PTX as the first-line treatment. The patient had been taking omeprazole 10 mg once daily (for >3 years) gastroesophageal reflux disease, but it switched to lansoprazole 15 because hospital's adopted medication. During first...

Successful reduction of malaria transmission to very low levels has made Isabel Province, Solomon Islands, a target for early elimination by 2014. High in neighbouring provinces and the potential local asymptomatic infections cause resurgence highlights need sub-national tailoring surveillance interventions. This study contributes situational analysis Province inform an appropriate intervention. A mixed method was carried out late 2009 2010. The quantitative component population-based...

Abstract Group B Streptococcus (GBS) is a leading cause of bacterial sepsis and meningitis in newborns. GBS possesses protein with homology to the pneumococcal virulence factor, NanA, which has neuraminidase (sialidase) activity promotes blood-brain barrier penetration. However, phylogenetic sequence enzymatic analyses indicate NanA ortholog lost sialidase function – for this distinction we designate gene encoded nonA /NonA. Here analyze NonA pathogenesis, through heterologous expression...

Evolutionarily conserved virulence factors can be candidate therapeutic targets or vaccine antigens. Here, we investigated the evolutionary selective pressures on 16 pneumococcal choline-binding cell-surface proteins since Streptococcus pneumoniae is one of pathogens posing greatest threats to human health. Phylogenetic and molecular analyses revealed that cbpJ had highest codon rates total numbers codons under considerable negative selection among those examined. Our in vitro vivo assays...

In a series of hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) patients, we evaluated the sensitivities individual microsatellites recommended by National Cancer Institute (NCI) consensus workshop for detection high-frequency microsatellite instability (MSI-H). On basis this evaluation, developed three-marker assay that assigns (MSI) in multiplex polymerase chain reaction.Individual marker sensitivity was assessed 18 HNPCC tumors. Multiplex and NCI assays were then 120 patients with...

We evaluated urokinase-type plasminogen activator (uPA) expression with immunohistochemistry in 90 cases of colorectal cancer and compared it the clinicopathological findings. Patients who had cells which were stained intensively relative to background recognized as uPA-positive patients. The rate was 36.7% (33/90) total cases. There a significant correlation also seen between uPA liver metastasis. Prognosis poorer patients than uPA-negative Therefore, may be good predictor metastasis prognosis.

Linear IgA bullous dermatosis (LABD) is a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by linear deposits of at the basement membrane zone(BMZ) and/or circulating anti-BMZ antibodies. Comparing with other immuno-bullous diseases, LABD represents heterogeneous disease entitywith diversity pathogenic autoantibodies to different hemidesmosomal antigens and an association malignancies occasional drug use. We herein present 82-year-old Japanese man LABD, whose indirect immunofluorescence using 1M...

Genomic instability has been indicated during the dedifferentiation process from leiomyoma (LM) to leiomyosarcoma (LMS). Previously, we have described that nuclear expression pattern of DNA damage response protein p53-binding 1 (53BP1), detected by immunofluorescence, reflects magnitude genomic malignancy. Here, present a case LMS arising LM with molecular analysis 53BP1, which showed transitional within tumor. A fifty-year-old female abdominal mass underwent hysterectomy. Histologically,...

ABSTRACT Although the association between radiation exposure and thyroid carcinogenesis is epidemiologically evident, ’true’ radiation-induced cancers cannot be identified from biological evidence of radiation-associated cases. To assess individual risk for cancer due to exposure, we aimed identify biomarkers that are specifically altered during after irradiation in a time-dependent manner an animal model. Thyroid glands were obtained rats (n = 175) at 6–16 months local X-ray (0.1–4 Gy) neck...

Abstract Sagiyama virus (SAGV), a strain of Getah in the genus Alphavirus family Togaviridae , has broad host range vertebrates and invertebrates but is not pathogenic for humans. We engineered SAGV genome as an efficient transient expression vector using full‐length infectious cDNA clone pSAG2 background. A green fluorescent protein (GFP) gene was used reporter expressed from subgenomic mRNA. When GFP placed downstream intact capsid or internally deleted encoding N‐terminal 9 amino acids...
