The water-compatible optically pure metallohelices made by self-assembly of simple nonpeptidic organic components around Fe(II) ions are now recognized as a distinct subclass helicates that exhibit similar architecture to some natural cationic antimicrobial peptides. Notably, new series was recently shown biological activity, displaying high, structure-dependent activity against bacteria. It is also important that, thanks their properties, such can specific interactions with...

Abstract Bulges are essential structural elements in nucleic acids. The detection and targeting of bulged DNA sequences highly important. Small molecules capable bulges have attracted considerable attention because they cannot only be used as reagents for bulge recognition, but also potential therapeutic drugs. Herein, the interactions duplexes, containing various sizes base compositions, with a series Fe II triplex‐forming metallohelices reported. results obtained, aid molecular biophysics...

Oxidative stress in cells can lead to the accumulation of reactive oxygen species and oxidation DNA precursors. Oxidized nucleotides such as 2'-deoxyribo-5-hydroxyuridin (HdU) 2'-deoxyribo-5-hydroxymethyluridin (HMdU) be inserted into during replication repair. HdU HMdU have attracted particular interest because they different effects on damaged-DNA processing enzymes that control downstream lesions. Herein, we studied chemically simulated translesion synthesis (TLS) across lesions formed by...

The DNA interstrand cross-links of the antitumor drug {[cis-Pt(NH3)2Cl]2(4,4′-methylenedianiline)}2+ (1) play a prevalent role in its effects. Complex 1 forms long-range uniquely 3′–3′ direction. Conformational distortions induced by these represent potential structural motif for recognition high-mobility-group proteins.
