The field of fluid mechanics is rapidly advancing, driven by unprecedented volumes data from experiments, measurements, and large-scale simulations at multiple spatiotemporal scales. Machine learning (ML) offers a wealth techniques to extract ...Read More
We have studied hydrogen gas production using photocatalysis from C2-C5 carbon chain polyols, cyclic alcohols and mono di-saccharides palladium nanoparticles supported on a TiO2 catalyst. For many of the polyols evolution rate is found to be dictated by number hydroxyl groups available α-hydrogens in structure. However rule only applies alcohols, while sugar activity limited bulky structure those molecules. There was also evidence ring opening photocatalytic reforming that involved...
We have investigated polyvinylalcohol stabilized Au and Ag based nanoparticles supported on titania prepared via sol immobilisation for the anaerobic, ambient temperature reforming of methanol with water photocatalytic production hydrogen. The catalytic activity Au/TiO2 catalysts was strongly affected by metal loading calcination temperature. Here, we report preparation use Au–Ag nanoparticles, either co-reduction or consecutive reduction two metals. were more active than monometallic...
The influence of sunlight varying intensity on the performance UNS S30400 stainless steel (SS) was explored under conditions natural biofilm development in coastal seawater. In a series tests performed outdoors an opaque roof, range shades were fashioned to impart varied amounts diurnal light. These ambient level where underwater illumination ~ 5% full sunlight, two intermediate ranges lighting with 2.5% and 1% daylight, condition darkness. comparison dark, increments rendered SS...
This study reports on the novel application of sodium carbonate dosing specifically for semi-passive precipitation Zn from circum-neutral mine water and demonstrates use Na2CO3 as a readily available, safe to handle reagent which can precipitate at pH within environmental quality standards. >95 % removal was achieved each drainage investigated, requiring differing dosages with residual concentrations <1 mgL−1. Geochemical modelling characterisation using XRD, SEM-EDS, TGA full chemical...
The surface passive film on UNS S30400 alloy was characterized before and after biofilm development under different regimes of diurnal lighting in quiescent flowing coastal seawater. As exemplified by atomic force microscopy, the grew all test conditions with conspicuous variations morphological features. X-ray photon spectroscopy illustrated an enrichment outer iron oxide a progressive increase oxide/chromium ratio lighting. Mott-Schottky plots reflected duplex nature film, comprising...

Abstract We have examined the reforming of methanol and CO on Pd/P25 TiO 2 catalysts for hydrogen production, compared it with rates similarly supported Au Cu catalysts. Both reactions proceed, but photocatalytic water–gas shift (WGS) reaction is much slower than reforming. evolved as expected, yields can be lower expected stoichiometry (CH 3 OH + H O → 3H ). show that this due to dissolution carbon dioxide into aqueous phase. also carried out both in gas proceed at a higher rate phase,...
The problem of turbulent flow past freezing or melting ice is formulated for the case random boundary waves, with particular attention to distribution heat-transfer rate along wavy surfaces. Relations are obtained celerity and unsteady spectrum waves. results 21 laboratory experiments reported used establish values certain quantities appearing in relation adopted. velocity Reynolds number phase shift between waves variation found have a nearly constant value 4 × 104.
