Direct electrooptic sampling is a noncontact optical-probing technique for measuring with picosecond time resolution the voltage waveforms at internal nodes within GaAs integrated circuits. The factors contributing to system bandwidth, sensitivity, spatial resolution, and circuit perturbation are discussed, as requirements realistic testing of analog digital devices. Measurements high-speed circuits presented, including time-domain waveform timing measurements frequency-domain transfer...

A new type of light modulator, the deformable grating based on electrically controlling amplitude a micromachined phase is described. Mechanical motion one quarter wavelength sufficient for switching in this device. The small mechanical allows use structures with high resonance frequencies. We have developed modulator bandwidth 1.8 MHz and voltage 3.2 V demonstrated modulation 16 dB contrast. Smaller devices bandwidths as much 6.1 predicted voltages less than 10 were also fabricated.

The 0.25 Hz-25 kHz pulse timing fluctuations of a Nd:YAG CW-mode-locked laser are reduced from 20.6 ps to less than 0.30 rms by an electronic phase-lock loop. Stabilizer design considerations include the phase control characteristics, detector additive noise, and spurious detection amplitude noise loop detector. Applications synchronization multiple picosecond pulsed lasers, lasers signal sources in physical measurements.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"...

This Letter is the first report of observation amplified reflection and self-oscillation produced by degenerate optical four-wave mixing using a resonantly enhanced Kerr nonlinearity in atomic sodium vapor. Phase-conjugated reflected waves with intensities 100 times greater than input-signal were achieved only 40-kW/cm2 pump intensity.

Ankyloglossia has been associated with a variety of infant-feeding problems. Frenotomy commonly is performed for relief ankyloglossia, but there lack convincing data to support this practice. Our primary objective was determine whether frenotomy infants ankyloglossia improved maternal nipple pain and ability breastfeed. A secondary the length breastfeeding.Over 12-month period, neonates who had difficulty breastfeeding significant were enrolled in randomized, single-blinded, controlled trial...
