Abstract Swift heavy ions (SHI) irradiation of Nickel (Ni) beam with different fluence bring the modifications in functional properties radio frequency (RF) grown zirconium oxide (ZrO 2 ) nanocrystalline thin films. X-ray diffraction analysis affirms monoclinic to tetragonal phase transformation and diminishing peak at higher 1 × 10 14 ions/cm induced by electronic excitation caused SHI.
