A steady-state mouse model was developed to determine arsenic (As) relative bioavailability (RBA) in rice refine As exposure humans. Fifty-five samples from 15 provinces of China were analyzed for total As, with 11 cooked speciation and assessment. Arsenic concentrations 38-335 μg kg-1, averaging 133 AsIII being dominant (36-79%), followed by DMAV (18-58%) AsV (0.5-16%). Following oral doses individual species mice at low (2.5-15 per mouse) over a 7-d period, strong linear correlations (R2 =...

Anaerobic technology is an efficient and sustainable approach for disposing waste activated sludge (WAS), but the performance easily affected by environmental conditions. In this study, potential impacts of chlorhexidine (CHD) hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (HTAB), two highly detected biocides in WAS, on short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) generation during anaerobic fermentation were explored. The experimental results indicated that promoted SCFAs unexpectedly, particularly acetic acid....

Abstract The Ontong Java-Manihiki-Hikurangi plateau (OJMHP) is considered to have originated from a starting mantle plume, and been rifted apart by two spreading ridges. However, the ages of these ridges their possible interactions with presumed plume are unclear. Manihiki-Hikurangi has Osbourn Trough which formed southwestern Pacific crust east Tonga-Kermadec trench. Here we report Pb-Hf-Os isotopes basaltic (Site U1365 IODP Expedition 329) Trough. Linear regression Re-Os results in an age...

The industrial augmentation and unguided anthropogenic activities contaminate water sources in most parts of the world especially developing countries like Pakistan. High concentration pollutants groundwater affects human, soil, crop health badly. present study was conducted to investigate quality for drinking irrigation purposes an zone A GIS tool used spatial distribution different physico-chemical parameters. In this study, average results exceeding World Health Organization (WHO)...

The uncontrolled discharge of industrial wastewater leads to a significant cadmium (Cd) accumulation in waste activated sludge (WAS), posing serious threat the steady operation anaerobic digestion (AD) system treatment plants (WWTPs). Therefore, developing viable approach cope with adverse effects high-concentration Cd on AD is urgently required. This study aims investigate potential using anionic polyacrylamide (APAM), commonly used agent WWTPs, mitigate toxic amount (i.e., 5.0 mg per g...

In this study, micro-oxygen was integrated into a rusty scrap iron (RSI)-loaded anaerobic digester. Under an optimal RSI dosage of 20 g/L, increasing O2 levels were added stepwise in seven stages semi-continuous experiment. Results showed the average methane yield 306 mL/g COD (chemical oxygen demand), and hydrogen sulphide (H2S) concentration 1933 ppmv with addition. addition induced microbial oxidation by stimulating sulfur-oxidizing bacteria chemical corrosion iron, which promoted...

Abstract Uplift of the western Kunlun range results from Indian indentation into Eurasia and induced underthrusting Tarim lithosphere. This keeps pace with migration foreland basin. The basin‐scale sequences provide a decipherable record migration. To quantify underthrusting, we analyzed ∼323.2‐km‐long seismic profile crossing middle segment foreland. We traced reflectors to investigate architecture assigned ages by correlating them dated outcropping sections. consist four layers. lowermost...

The low power generation efficiency of microbial fuel cells (MFCs) is always a barrier to further development. An attempt enhance the start-up and electricity MFCs was investigated by adding different doses zero-valent iron into anaerobic anode chambers in this study. results showed that voltage (289.6 mV) A2 with 0.5 g added higher than reference reactor (197.1 without dosing (A4). maximum density 27.3 mW/m2 obtained A2. CV analysis demonstrated possessed oxidation–reduction potential,...
