This study was done to identify pesticide-biodegrading microorganisms and characterize degradation rates. Bacillus safensis strain FO-36bT, subtilis subsp. inaquosorum KCTC13429T, cereus ATCC14579T were isolated from pesticide-polluted soil in Sudan, separately incubated with each pesticide periodic samples drawn for GC GC-MS. Pesticide biodegradation followed a biphasic model. α β half-lives (days) of chlorpyrifos, malathion, dimethoate B. culture 2.13, 4.76; 2.59, 5.66; 9.5, 11.0,...

Cowpea weevil causes losses of 50–90% in cowpea after harvest. Control has relied on toxic agrochemical fumigants that are no longer available or dangerous and relatively expensive, making its control difficult for most farmers. This study was initiated to investigate alternative methods synthetic pesticides, namely the suitable fumigation period oil concentration volatile oils garlic, Allium sativum, were evaluated as a fumigant against adults weevil, Callosobruchus maculatus (Bruchidae:...
