We use Global Positioning System (GPS) data and kinematic block models to study the present‐day deformation of southern Tibet. GPS from 33 sites in Tibet Nepal surveyed between 1991 2000 reveal 13 ± 2 mm/yr N110°E extension Lhasa Shiquanhe (80°E–91°E), which 9.7 3.0 represents permanent Tibetan crust.
