Background
Functional brain imaging studies in major depression have suggested abnormalities of areas, including the frontal cortex, cingulate gyrus, basal ganglia, and temporal cortex. We hypothesized that venlafaxine hydrochloride interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) might each alter blood flow some or all these areas on sequential single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) scans.
Methods
Twenty-eight men women aged 30 to 53 years with aDSM-IVmajor depressive...

A cDNA, cRKIN1, encoding a putative homologue of the yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) SNF1-encoded protein-serine/threonine kinase, has been isolated from library prepared rye endosperm mRNA. Northern blot analysis demonstrated presence cRKIN1-related transcripts in developing endosperms but not shoots, and Southern showed small gene family. SNF1 plays central role carbon catabolite repression expression RKIN1 sequence snf1 mutants restored function. This suggests that protein control metabolism rye.
