This letter describes 10-m-long articulated manipulator for investigation primary container vessel. We employed coupled tendon-driven mechanism gravity compensation using synthetic fiber ropes design lightweight slender manipulator. After discussing basic principle control...
Abstract A theoretical study on quantum yields (QYs) of the photochromic cyclization and cycloreversion reactions is presented. It shown that thermodynamic relative stability various energy minima ground state primarily important for reactions. We have succeeded in preparing single crystals of CaCu3(OH)6Cl2 ∙ 0.6H2O, a candidate for the S = 1/2 Kagome lattice antiferromagnet. Magnetic properties compound are dominated by nearest neighbor antiferromagnetic interaction J1, and next ferromagnetic J2 an Jd across hexagon, which is different from related compounds Kapellasite Haydeeite with J1. susceptibility exhibits sudden increase below 13 K cusp anomaly at T* 7.2 ab-plane, whereas only moderate enhancement observed along c-axis. A...
We observe a disappearance of the $1/3$ magnetization plateau and striking change magnetic configuration under moderate doping model triangular antiferromagnet $\mathrm{RbFe}({\mathrm{MoO}}_{4}{)}_{2}$. The reason is an effective lifting degeneracy mean-field ground states by random potential impurities, which compensates, in low-temperature limit, fluctuation contribution to free energy. These results provide direct experimental confirmation origin state real frustrated system. least...
An effective method for the synthesis of photochromic diarylethenes based on microflow systems has been developed, and unsymmetrical which is difficult to achieve using conventional macro batch systems, accomplished.
Abstract Reaction-pathway control of benzo[b]thiophen-3-yllithium and benzo[b]furan-3-yllithium was accomplished in flow microreactor systems. We could switch between the reaction with an electrophile before ring-opening that after at will by choosing appropriate residence-time temperature.
The exploration and inspection of narrow spaces in nuclear facilities require the use long-reach manipulators. Coupled tendon-driven manipulators can realize lightweight slender arms by positioning actuators, such as motors, at base. Currently, we are developing a coupled super articulated arm, which name “Super Dragon.” Super Dragon is robot arm with total length 10 m, maximum diameter 0.2 joints. In this paper, focused on elasticity elongation ropes. joint actuation utilizes synthetic...
Abstract We report the synthesis of some diarylethene derivatives attached to phenol moieties, which show remarkable photochromic reactions. A dithienylethene group o ‐phenol moiety (1,2‐bis[2,4‐dimethyl‐5‐( ‐hydroxyphenyl)‐3‐thienyl]hexafluorocyclopentene) was polymerized according Hay's method; resulting film insoluble any solvents, and showed no absorption band attributable OH in its IR spectrum. Isomeric dithienylethenes m ‐ p moieties did not form films under same oxidation conditions,...
Abstract An effective method for the synthesis of photochromic diarylethenes through generation heteroaryllithiums and subsequent reaction with octafluorocyclopentene has been developed by using integrated flow microreactor systems. Reactions can be conducted without cryogenic conditions virtue temperature residence time control, although much lower temperatures (<−78 °C) are needed batch macroreactions. Moreover, unsymmetrical diarylethenes, which is difficult to achieve when...
We have discovered a novel candidate for spin liquid state in ruthenium oxide composed of dimers $S = $ 3/2 spins Ru$^{5+}$,Ba$_3$ZnRu$_2$O$_9$. This compound lacks long range order down to 37 mK, which is temperature 5000-times lower than the magnetic interaction scale around 200 K. Partial substitution Zn can continuously vary ground from an antiferromagnetic spin-gapped through state. indicates that spin-liquid emerges delicate balance inter- and intra-dimer interactions, dimer plays...
A photochromic polymer film is prepared by the oxidation polymerization of a diarylethene. The photoreactive conformation maintained. pattern can be written on using visible light, and upon irradiation with IR non‐destructive read‐out patterned image carried out. structural changes resulting from illumination are shown in Scheme.
This letter proposes a novel method to accomplish shape recognition by utilizing tensegrity structure with soft sensor via recurrent neural network (RNN). The combination of and sensors make it capable recognizing the deformation reflect its surroundings. As first step this goal, we build three-bar prism nine separate in which resistance value changes length variation. is actuated thin McKibben muscles deforms when pressure inside muscle. positions six nodes are obtained using motion-capture...
Picosecond laser spectroscopy was applied to the direct detection of photochromic reaction processes in a network polymer film prepared by oxidation polymerization diarylethene derivative. Both coloration due cyclization and decoloration via cycloreversion took place less than 30 ps. The time constants both reactions were almost same as those monomers obtained solutions, indicating that system retains similarly high response solution phase.
Advanced thin dicing blades for cutting sapphire were fabricated and evaluated performance with respect to blade wear meandering of lines. Three kinds different commercial used compare the performance. These had same thickness diamond grain size. The matrix material one was nickel–phosphorus alloy two other a vitric material. Newly developed consisted pore. A machine sapphire. Turning velocity, depth feeding rate 20,000 min–1, 200 mm 1 s–1, respectivity. Cutting directions . All could cut...
Abstract Photochromic diarylethene derivatives, 1,2‐bis(2‐methyl‐5‐phenyl‐3‐thienyl)perfluorocyclopentene ( 1 ), 1,2‐bis(2,4‐dimethyl‐5‐phenyl‐3‐thienyl)perfluorocyclopentene 2 and 1,2‐bis(2‐methoxy‐5‐phenyl‐3‐thienyl) perfluorocyclopentene 3 ) were prepared to study substituent effects on IR spectra. The origin of the change spectra due substituents may be categorized into (1) in structure, (2) charge distribution, (3) new normal modes newly introduced substituent, which was examined by ab...
In recent years, synthetic fiber ropes have attracted much attention because of their potential to increase the load capacity, reduce size, and lighten weight tendon-driven mechanisms. However, mechanical characteristics in a dynamic loading situation remain an open problem visco-elasto-plasticity. This letter focuses on modeling ropes, frequency response long-distance cable-pulley system for robot. We show that rope can be modeled by Flory's model, it reduced conventional four-element model...
Photochromic diarylethene forms super water-repellent surfaces upon irradiation with UV light. Microfibril-like crystals grow on the solid surface after irradiation, and contact angle of water becomes larger increasing roughness time. The fractal analysis was made by box-counting method for rough surfaces. There are three regions in size having dimension ca. 2.4 (size smaller than 5 µm), 2.2 between 5–40 2.0 40 µm). due to fibril-like structures generated gradually accompanied an increase...
A synthetic fiber rope is potentially capable of replacing a stainless steel wire because it light weight, and has high tensile strength flexibility. In order to exploit the maximum rope, terminal fixation method with sufficient fixing force essential. However, this extremely difficult in case ropes due their small friction coefficients. The Pulsed Electric Current Sintering (PECS) method uses electric energy for sintering, however, the phenomenon behind this sintering process is ambiguous. of green bodies, especially insulating powders, requires Joule heat as well other phenomena. Insulating materials can be sintered more quickly by PECS than similar processes such hot pressing method. We attempted to clarify why facilitates in a shorter period, using alumina balls model starting material. After surfaces were observed...
