Novel species of fungi described in this study include those from various countries as follows: Antarctica, Apenidiella antarctica permafrost, Cladosporium fildesense an unidentified marine sponge. Argentina, Geastrum wrightii on humus mixed forest. Australia, Golovinomyces glandulariae Glandularia aristigera, Neoanungitea eucalyptorum leaves Eucalyptus grandis, Teratosphaeria corymbiicola Corymbia ficifolia, Xylaria eucalypti radiata.Brazil, Bovista psammophila soil, Fusarium awaxy rotten...
Mycophiles forage for and pick vast quantities of a wide variety wild mushroom species. As result, intoxications are comparatively frequent in such countries with mycophiles. Thus, national governments forced to release guidelines or enact legislation order ensure the safe commerce mushrooms due food safety concerns. It is these laws that one can observe whether country indeed mycophobic mycophilic. Furthermore, provide valuable information on preferences consumption habits each country. we...
Applying early names, with or without original material, to genealogical species is challenging. For morels this task especially difficult because of high morphological stasis and plasticity apothecium color shape. Here we propose a nomenclatural revision true (Morchella, Pezizales) from Europe North America, based on molecular phylogenetic analyses portions the genes for RNA polymerase II largest subunit (RPB1) second (RPB2), translation elongation factor-1α (TEF1), nuc rDNA region...
Summary Global‐scale analyses of ectomycorrhizal ( ECM ) fungi communities emphasize host plant families as the main drivers diversity. This study aims to test, on A lnus – communities, which are said be ‘host‐specific’, what extent species, habitat and distance explain their alpha beta diversity variations, specificity. In F rance, associated with two subgenera five species , were sampled 165 trees from 39 lowland subalpine sites. all, 1178 internal transcribed spacer ITS sequences...
Infrageneric relations of the genetically diverse milkcap genus Lactifluus (Russulales, Basidiomycota) are poorly known. Currently used classification systems still largely reflect traditional, mainly morphological, characters for infrageneric delimitations milkcaps. Increased sampling, combined with small-scale molecular studies, show that this is underexplored and in need revision. For study, we assembled an extensive dataset Lactifluus, comprising 80 % all known species 30 type...
Abstract Nonsense mutations cause about 10% of genetic disease cases, and no treatments are available. can be corrected by molecules with nonsense mutation readthrough activity. An extract the mushroom Lepista inversa has recently shown high-efficiency correction UGA UAA mutations. One active constituent this is 2,6-diaminopurine (DAP). In Calu-6 cancer cells, in which TP53 gene a mutation, DAP treatment increases p53 level. It also decreases growth tumors arising from cells injected into...
We collected and mapped epigeous fruitbodies of both ectomycorrhizal (ECM) saprobic fungi in an old-growth Quercus ilex L. Mediterranean forest within a permanent transect 6400 m 2 over three consecutive fruiting seasons. Out 5382 fruitbodies, total 234 species were found, including 166 68 ECM taxa, respectively. Both communities mainly composed rare species. Two genera, Russula Cortinarius, accounted for 34.4% 50% diversity. The most abundant Laccaria laccata (Scop.: Fr.) Berk. &...
Abstract Background Mycorrhizal fungi form intimate associations with their host plants that constitute carbon resource and habitat. Alnus spp. (Betulaceae) are known to an exceptional species-poor specialized ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungal community compared other tree species, but the host-specificity pattern its significance in terms of diversification speciation remain poorly documented. The degree parallel speciation, switching, patterns biogeography were explored historical between...
Abstract Population studies have revealed that the fungal ectomycorrhizal morphospecies Tricholoma scalpturatum consists of at least two genetically distinct groups occur sympatrically in several geographical areas. This discovery prompted us to examine species boundaries and relationships between members formerly assigned T. allied taxa using phylogenetic analyses. Sequence data were obtained from three nuclear DNA regions [internal transcribed spacer (ITS), gpd tef ], 101 carpophores...
Taxonomy of Geastrum species in the neotropics has been subject to divergent opinions among specialists. In our study, type collections were reassessed and compared with recent order delimit Geastrum, sect. Myceliostroma, subsect. Epigaea. A thorough review morphologic features combined barcode phylogenetic analyses (ITS LSU nrDNA) revealed six new (G. neoamericanum, G. rubellum, brunneocapillatum, baculicrystallum, rubropusillum courtecuissei). additon, presence hairs on exoperidium, a...
The biogeography of neotropical fungi remains poorly understood. Here, we reconstruct the origins and diversification lineages in one largest clades ectomycorrhizal globally widespread family Russulaceae. We inferred a supertree 3285 operational taxonomic units, representing worldwide internal transcribed spacer sequences. reconstructed biogeographic history identified Neotropics adjacent Patagonia. Russulaceae have tropical African origin. oldest South America, most with sister groups, date...
A systematic study of a rare and enigmatic European species, Galerina clavus Romagn., is presented. Phylogenetic analyses show it to be most closely related Pachylepyrium carbonicola (A.H. Sm.) Singer P. funariophilum (M.M. Moser) (Strophariaceae). Investigation additional species suggests this genus polyphyletic as the type fulvidula (Singer) Singer, nested in Tubariaceae Vizzini based on multigene phylogenetic analyses. nubicola allied with Pholiota (Fr.) Kumm. high ITS similarity,...
('deer truffles') is one of the most important ectomycorrhizal fungal genera in temperate and subarctic forest ecosystems, but also least documented public databases. The current systematics are mainly based on macromorphology, not significantly different from that proposed by Vittadini (1831). Within 49 species recognised worldwide, 23 were originally described Europe 17 these before 20th century. Moreover, very recent phylogenetic treatments genus a few extra-European common European still...
Abstract Fungal biotechnology is set to play a keystone role in the emerging bioeconomy, notably address pollution issues arising from human activities. Because they preserve biological diversity, Biological Resource Centres are considered as critical infrastructures support development of biotechnological solutions. Here, we report first large-scale phenotyping more than 1,000 fungal strains with evaluation their growth and degradation potential towards five industrial, human-designed...
A phylogenetic analysis of Trametes and related taxa is proposed, based on a wide sampling temperate tropical species. Concatenate sequences ribosomal DNA (ITS1-5.8S-ITS2) RPB2 gene from mycelia cultures were analyzed by Maximum Likelihood Bayesian methods, whilst morphological features documented the corresponding herbarium vouchers. Congruent results obtained analyses LSU downloaded Genbank. The ITS + gave best resolution for reconstructions revealed existence three main lineages in...
The ectomycorrhizal (ECM) symbiosis connects mutualistic plants and fungal species into bipartite networks. While links between one focal ECM plant its symbionts have been widely documented, systemic views of networks are lacking, in particular, concerning the ability to mediate indirect ecological interactions (projected-ECM networks). We assembled a large dataset plant-fungi associations at level scale Corsica using molecular data unambiguously host-assigned records to: (i) examine...
Four Turkish Morchella species identified in published multilocus molecular phylogenetic analyses are described here as new, using detailed macro- and microscopic data: M. mediterraneensis ( Mel -27), fekeensis -28), magnispora -29), conifericola -32). A distribution map of morels to date Turkey is also provided.
