Abstract Alloy 718 is commonly used in the maritime and aerospace industries due to its strength durability, particularly engine rotating components such as disks, fan blades, high-pressure compressors. As a new type of 3D printing technology, directed energy deposition (DED) can employ lasers melt metal powders or wires fabricate arbitrary-shaped workpieces directly from customized data, thereby making machining more synergistic intuitive. However, surface properties DED-printed alloy...
In this work, the effect of ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification (UNSM) treatment at room and high temperatures (RT HT) on high-frequency fatigue behavior Inconel 718 alloy fabricated by laser metal deposition (LMD) process was experimentally investigated. UNSM RT HT modified a morphology produced nanostructured layer with thickness approximately 120 140 µm, respectively. The roughness untreated sample reduced, while hardness notably increased after HT. Both increasing temperature....
This study introduces a newly developed cladding device, through printing AISI 1045 carbon steel as single and double layers onto American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) H13 tool plate. In this study, the mechanical tribological characteristics of were experimentally investigated. Both polished first then subjected to ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification (UNSM) treatment improve characteristics. Surface roughness, hardness depth profile measurements, X-ray diffraction (XRD)...
Abstract Additive Manufacturing (AM) which is also known as metal 3D printing technique a promising process with massive potential for developing component wide range applications various industries. Recently, AM was introduced to the nuclear power plant industry capable of manufacturing substitution aging and obsolete component. However, has inferior mechanical properties performance in terms fatigue strength wear resistance compared its conventionally manufactured counterpart. Ultrasonic...
Abstract Additive Manufacturing (AM) which is also known as metal 3D printing technique one of the promising manufacturing processes due to capability process a complex geometry component. This implemented in wide range applications various industries such automotive, aerospace, power plants, etc. The aging nuclear plant components and obsolescence those has become concern this industry, AM come an alternative solution for matter. Board on Pressure Technology Codes Standards (BPTCS) Nuclear...
