A solution to the classic unsolved problem of olefin hydromethylation is presented. This highly chemoselective method can tolerate labile and reactive chemical functionalities uses a simple set reagents. An array olefins, including mono-, di-, trisubstituted are all smoothly hydromethylated. mild protocol be used simplify synthesis specific target or directly "edit" complex natural products other advanced materials. The also amenable installation radioactive stable labeled methyl groups.

A new formal [3 + 1]-cycloaddition reaction of azaoxyallyl cation intermediates, generated in situ from α-halo hydroxamates bearing α-alkyl groups, and sulfur ylides is reported, furnishing useful β-lactams (dr >19:1) fair to modest yields. In contrast, an unexpected 2]-cycloaddition occurs give γ-lactam derivatives for with α-aryl groups the presence bases.

Poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET)-derived plastics are an important fraction of plastic waste. Selective hydrogenolysis PET to p-xylene (xylene) and ethylene glycol (EG) could partially recover its value as a chemical feedstock. Herein, Cu/Zn-FeOx catalysts were prepared for the conversion xylene EG in 1,4-dioxane at 180–200 °C. The results showed that Zn created more Lewis acidic sites enhanced dispersion metallic Cu species by developing porous structure promoting reduction CuO....
