This study applies machine learning models, remote sensing, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to optimize disaster risk reduction measures for communities in the northern mountainous region of Vietnam. The analysis results indicate that factors such as terrain, climate, population density, infrastructure play a crucial role determining risks. Machine models are employed classify predict risks landslides, flash floods, storms, achieving an accuracy up 85%. Mitigation resettlement,...

We report six new records of skinks from northwestern Vietnam: Eutropis macularius, Scincelladevorator , S.monticola, S.ochracea, Sphenomorphuscryptotis and S.indicus. Our findings increase the species number (Scincidae) to nine in Dien Bien Province 14 Son La Province. also provide additional natural history data aforementioned species.

Summary The use of P-to-S converted waves in subsurface imaging is well-known and documented several successful case histories. With Ocean Bottom Seismic (OBS) becoming more popular, there a need for better ways to process this data accurate quality control the early stages processing sequence when no velocity model available. Binning stacking PS are quick useful method check how going aids initial building. Anisotropic common conversion point (ACCP) binning technique used purpose. This...

During field work on Hon Son Island, we discovered a new species of the genus Cyrtodactylus inferred from genetic and morphological evidence. Phylogenetic analyses based mitochondrial gene ND2, delimit borgattaorum sp. nov. as in C. intermedius group strongly supported sister phuquocensis both Bayesian inference Maximum Likelihood analyses. The is distinguished all other members by having combination 12 supralabials; 10 or 11 infralabials; 22 23 small, rounded, smooth, paravertebral...

Sustainable and cost-effective long-term storage remains an unsolved problem. The most widely used technologies today are magnetic (hard disk drives tape). They use media that degrades over time has a limited lifetime, which leads to inefficient, wasteful, costly solutions for long-lived data. This paper presents Silica: the first cloud system archival data underpinned by quartz glass, extremely resilient allows be left in situ indefinitely. hardware software of Silica have been co-designed...

Corrections for source and receiver positioning clock-drift errors are early steps in the processing of ocean bottom seismic (OBS) data. We have implemented an optimization process to correct jointly these errors, while a water velocity model gets updated from initial uniform estimate final time- depth-dependent version at node locations. The main novel parts using non-linear correction term, higher-order polynomial vertical profile water-velocity enhanced data pre-conditioning optimization....
