Exchange-bias (EB) phenomena have been observed in the ${L}_{0.5}{\mathrm{Sr}}_{0.5}\mathrm{Mn}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ ($L=\mathrm{Y}$, ${\mathrm{Y}}_{0.5}{\mathrm{Sm}}_{0.5}$, and ${\mathrm{Y}}_{0.5}{\mathrm{La}}_{0.5}$)-type manganites showing cluster-glass-like spin-glass-like behavior. The field cooled magnetic hysteresis loops exhibit shifts both magnetization axes. values of exchange $({H}_{E})$, coercivity $({H}_{C})$, remanence asymmetry $({M}_{E})$, $({M}_{C})$ are found to depend...

Abstract The coupling between structural, electronic and magnetic degrees of freedom across the metal‐insulator transition in V 2 O 3 makes it hard to determine main driving mechanism behind transition. Specifically, role magnetism is debated its interplay with other transitions has not been established. To address this issue, work uses a combination muon spin relaxation/rotation, electrical transport reciprocal space mapping which allows correlate magnetic, structural strain‐engineered thin...

Bulk ${\mathrm{V}}_{2}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}$ features concomitant metal-insulator (MIT) and structural (SPT) phase transitions at ${T}_{\mathrm{C}}\ensuremath{\sim}160$ K. In thin films, where the substrate clamping can impose geometrical restrictions on SPT, epitaxial relation between film have a profound effect MIT. Here, we present detailed characterization of domain nucleation growth across MIT in (001)-oriented films grown sapphire. By combining scanning electron transmission microscopy...

Comprehensive low-temperature specific heat data C(T,H) of Na_0.35CoO2-1.3H_2O with temperature T down to 0.6 K and the magnetic field H up 8 are presented. For normal state, values gamma_n=13.94 mJ/mol K2, Debye 362 reported. At zero field, a very sharp superconducting anomaly was observed at Tc=4.5 DeltaC/gamma_nTc=1.45. The volume fraction is estimated be 47.4 % based on consideration entropy balance Tc for second-order phase transition. In electronic contribution C_es H=0 can well...

Colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) and colossal electroresistance (CER) induced by the electric field in spinel multiferroic CdCr2S4 are reported. It is found that a metal-insulator transition triggered electrical field. In magnetic fields, resistivity ρ of responds similarly to CMR manganites. Combing previous reports, these findings make unique compound possess all four properties magnetocapacitive, electrocapacitive, CER, CMR. The present results open new venue for searching materials show...

Abstract The metal‐insulator phase transitions in V 2 O 3 are considered archetypal manifestations of Mott physics. Despite decades research, the effects doping, pressure, and anisotropic strains on still debated. To understand how these parameters control transitions, anisotropically strained pure films explored with nearly same contraction along c ‐axis, but different degrees ab‐plane expansion. With small expansion, behave similar to bulk under hydrostatic pressure. However, large driven...

The magnetic phase variations under hydrostatic pressure on multiferroic ${\text{BiMnO}}_{3}$ have been examined by the dc magnetization $[{M}_{g}(T)]$, hysteresis $[{\ensuremath{\mu}}_{eff}(H)]$, and ac susceptibility $[{\ensuremath{\chi}}_{g}^{\ensuremath{'}}(T)]$. Three transitions, manifested as kinks I, II, III ${M}_{g}(T)$ curves, were identified at 8.7 9.4 kbar. With increasing pressure, transition temperatures of kink I II (${T}_{k\text{I}}$ ${T}_{k\text{II}}$) tend to decrease, but...

By combining inelastic x-ray scattering and Raman spectroscopy, we track temperature dependence of several acoustic optical modes up 1000 K. Contrary what is commonly observed, find that either stay constant or slightly increase with temperature. Our results show pretransitional give...
