Abstract Wildlife must adapt to human presence survive in the Anthropocene, so it is critical understand species responses humans different contexts. We used camera trapping as a lens view mammal changes activity during COVID-19 pandemic. Across 163 sampled 102 projects around world, amount and timing of animal varied widely. Under higher activity, mammals were less active undeveloped areas but unexpectedly more developed while exhibiting greater nocturnality. Carnivores most sensitive,...

Abstract SNAPSHOT USA is a multicontributor, long‐term camera trap survey designed to mammals across the United States. Participants are recruited through community networks and directly website application ( https://www.snapshot-usa.org/ ). The growing Snapshot dataset useful, for example, tracking wildlife population responses land use, cover, climate changes spatial temporal scales. Here we present 2021 dataset, third national US. Data were collected 109 arrays included 1711 sites. total...

Abstract Aim The assembly of species into communities and ecoregions is the result interacting factors that affect plant animal distribution abundance at biogeographic scales. Here, we empirically derive for mammals to test whether human disturbance has become more important than climate habitat resources in structuring communities. Location Conterminous United States. Time Period 2010–2021. Major Taxa Studied Twenty‐five mammals. Methods We analysed data from 25 mammal recorded by camera...

A closed-form equation, the Fizzle Equation, was derived from a mathematical model predicting Severe Acute Respiratory Virus-2 dynamics, optimized for 4000-student university cohort. This equation sought to determine frequency and percentage of random surveillance testing required prevent an outbreak, enabling institution develop scientifically sound public health policies bring effective reproduction number virus below one, halting progression. Model permutations evaluated potential spread...

Robust surveillance testing is a key strategic plan to prevent COVID-19 outbreaks and slow the spread of SARS-CoV-2 pandemic;however, limited resources, facilitiesand time often impair implementation widespread effort. To mitigate these resource limitations, we employed strategy pooling samples, reducing reagent cost processing time. Through utilizing academic faculty labs, successful pooled was conducted throughout Fall 2020 semester detect positive infections in population 4400 students....

Abstract Beginning in early March 2021 and continuing through May 2021, the USAF Academy began vaccinating cadets for protection against SARS-CoV-2 virus with BNT162b2 (Pfizer-BioNTech) mRNA vaccine. During this period, vaccination of almost 4200 cadet population increased from 3% to 85% prevalence COVID-19 was constant at approximately 0.4% as indicated by weekly surveillance testing. In study, vaccine effectiveness preventing infection is estimated comparing risk a function time since...

Predominantly asymptomatic infections, such as those for SARS-CoV-2, require robust surveillance testing to identify people who are unknowingly spreading the virus. The US Air Force Academy returned in-person classes more than 4000 cadets aged 18-26 years during fall 2020 semester meet graduation and leadership training requirements. To enable this sustained cadet footprint, institution developed a dynamic SARS-CoV-2 response plan using near–real-time data inform decisions trigger policies....
