A photonic microwave signal generation scheme with frequency octupling is proposed and experimentally demonstrated using a dual-polarization quadrature phase shift keying modulator. By properly setting the difference between two drive signals, working points of modulator, polarization state light wave after an optical only ±4th order sidebands generated. pure 24-GHz low-phase noise obtained 3-GHz local oscillator signal.
