A midwave infrared camera (λc=4.2μm) with a 320×256 focal plane array (FPA) based on type-II InAs∕GaSb strain layer superlattice (SLs) has been demonstrated. The detectors consist of an nBn heterostructure, wherein the SL absorber and contact layers are separated by Al0.2Ga0.8Sb barrier layer, which is designed to have minimum valence band offset. Unlike PN junction, size device not defined mesa etch but confined lateral diffusion length minority carriers. At 77K, FPA demonstrates temporal...

The basic operating principles of Čerenkov maser oscillators are briefly reviewed and the experimental performance a 3-mm device is discussed. A power level approximately 100 kW was achieved at 88 GHz voltage tuning from 84 to 128 on fundamental TM01 mode observed. Operation higher-order modes frequencies up 300–320 demonstrated, two-stage buncher-amplifier configuration investigated.

The aim of this study was to examine the efficacy manipulation under anaesthesia (MUA) followed by early physiotherapy in treating frozen shoulder syndrome. In a prospective trial conducted between 26th August 2002 and 25th June 2004 86 patients with syndrome, MUA performed as day procedure. Main outcomes were Disabilities Arm, Shoulder Hand (DASH) score, visual analogue score (VAS) for pain range movement, which measured preoperatively at six weeks postprocedure.Fifty (58.1%) had complete...

In a joint program of Penn State University and Teledyne Imaging Sensors, hybrid CMOS sensors have been developed for use as X-ray detectors. This detector technology can provide major improvements in performance relative to CCDs, which are the current standard used focal planes telescopes (e.g. Chandra, XMM, Suzaku, Swift). Future telescope missions all likely significantly increased collection area. If CCDs used, effects saturation (pile-up) will impact, while radiation damage impact...

Abstract Background The symbiosis between the Hawaiian bobtail squid Euprymna scolopes and bacterium Vibrio fischeri serves as a model for investigating molecular mechanisms that promote initial formation of animal-bacterial symbioses. Research with this system frequently depends on freshly hatched E. , but husbandry factors hatchling production in mariculture facility remain underreported. Here we report reproductive performance response to decreased mating frequency. Results One animal...
