The microstructure and phase composition of a cast Ti 15.4 Zr 30.2 Mn 44 V 5.4 Сr 5 alloy obtained using titanium sponge, as well the hydrogenation product, are investigated by scanning electron microscopy X-ray analysis.As found, complete replacement expensive iodide with relatively cheap sponge does not affect structure alloy.As shown, saturation hydrogen occurs at room temperature pressure 0.21 MPa in short time up to capacity 2.12% mass.

On the example of alloy Ti 15.4 Zr 30.2 Mn 44 V 5.4 Сr 5 , technological scheme producing massive ingots by technique induction melting in open Al 2 O 3 crucibles, which can be used industry, is developed.This ensures absence significant interaction between crucible material and melt, while maintaining allowable content aluminium impurities alloy, thus achieving required structure, phase composition, hydrogen storage properties.
