Oxytocin binding (Bmax) was found to be higher in the ventral tegmental area (VTA) and medial preoptic (MPOA) at midparturition compared with Pregnancy Days 15-17 or Postpartum 5-7 rat dams. Pup retrieval assuming a nursing posture over pups were blocked parturient dams by infusions of an oxytocin antagonist into VTA MPOA vasopressin (V1) MPOA. These results implicate MPOA, as well parturition-associated rise these sites postpartum activation maternal behavior.

This research adopted a model of goal activation to study the mechanisms underlying interrupted task performance. The effects interruption timing, type interruption, and age on time primary resumption were explored under conditions in which attention was switched back forth between two tasks, much as when drivers shift attending road an in-vehicle task. timing interruptions had significant impact times, indicating that most costly interrupt performance is during middle However, this effect...

Objective and Method Findings from both animal human research suggest that pain sensitivity changes across the menstrual cycle; however, among humans nature of these cycle effects remains unclear. The present study used a repeated-measures design to evaluate in thermal ischemic responses during three phases cycle, midfollicular (postmenstrual), ovulatory, mid-to-late luteal (premenstrual), 11 healthy women. phase which subjects began their participation was determined randomly. Plasma levels...

Intracisternal (i.c.) injection of neurotensin (NT) to rats or mice attenuated the locomotor hyperactivity induced by d-amphetamine, methylphenidate cocaine, but not increased activity apomorphine lergotrile. The reduction methylphenidate-induced i.c. NT was due an drug metabolism because did change plasma concentrations. These actions are distinct from those dopamine receptor antagonist haloperidol, which blocked all five stimulant drugs in rats. A further difference between and...

Neurotensin (NT), administered intracisternally to mice, produced significant dose-dependent antinociception in three analgesic tests: tail immersion, hot-plate and acetic acid writhing. Naloxone (1-5 mg/kg), an opiate antagonist i.p. 20 min before NT administration, did not significantly alter NT-induced any of these tests; naloxone reverse beta-endorphin-induced antinociception. However, centrally peripherally thyrotropin-releasing hormone antagonized (but beta-endorphin-induced) Equimolar...

Summary Arsenic trioxide is an essential component of therapy for acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL) and currently dosed on actual body weight with no upper limit. Arsenic‐induced neurotoxicity a well‐recognised complication; however, there uncertainty about its relationship to arsenic dose obesity. We conducted large multicentre retrospective study 487 patients APL treated arsenic‐based across 23 sites in Australia from 2008 2023. The primary outcome was incidence neurotoxicity, secondary...

Summary A biosocial model of the effects early adolescent testosterone levels and religiosity on males' sexual attitudes activity over a 3-year period was examined. Using panel data for approximately 100 boys who were 12·5/13·0 years old at study entry, significant additive free frequency attendance religious services demonstrated transition to first intercourse other aspects behaviour attitudes. No interactive two predictors found. Boys with higher entry never or infrequently attended most...

A double-blind, placebo-controlled, neuropharmacological challenge study was performed using probes for (fenfluramine), dopaminergic (levodopa), and noradrenergic (clonidine) systems.
