Abstract In a significant proportion of melanoma patients, CTL specific for the melan-A26/7–35 epitope can be detected in peripheral blood using HLA-A2/peptide tetramers. However, functional capacity these has been controversial, since although they prove to effective killers after vitro expansion, some patients have blunted activation responses ex vivo. We used phenotypic markers characterize melan-A tetramer+ cells both normal individuals and correlated with vivo assays function. Melanoma...

ABSTRACT Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors are a common cause of drug-induced angioedema, which rarely affects the gut. We present 32-year-old White woman with Crohn's disease on lisinopril experiencing 1 year episodic abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting, prompting multiple steroid tapers switch in biologic therapy. She was hospitalized profoundly hypotensive arrival. Initial imaging showed marked small bowel wall thickening free fluid abdomen. had rapid symptomatic radiographic...

Reduced bone mineral density (BMD), the major risk factor for osteoporotic fracture, has been linked to palmoplantar pustular psoriasis, but no significant studies have examined BMD in chronic plaque psoriasis (CPP). In this study, in-patients with severe CPP had their measured at nondominant hip and lumbar spine using dual energy X-ray absorbtiometry. Ten male 10 female Caucasian patients were recruited, a mean age of 47 years (range 20--71 years). There differences between controls....

Lymphomatoid papulosis (LyP) is a chronic self-healing cutaneous eruption which clinically benign but histologically malignant. Lesions occur episodically over the trunk and limbs. We describe four patients with regional LyP. All were male, range in age at onset from 12 to 47 years. In all cases, lesions confined segmental unilateral area. Two had type A two B have long-term follow-up on one patient whose limited right buttock for more than 20 years before widespread developed. Another left...

Background and Objectives Laser-induced photo thermal damage has been combined with photodynamic therapy (PDT) using a systemic photosensitiser to treat vascular lesions. The efficacy of PDT 5-aminolaevulinic acid (5-ALA) as the pulsed dye laser (PDL) light source in port wine stains (PWS) is unknown. Study Designs/Materials Methods We conducted an internally controlled pilot study comparing PDL source, alone treatment PWS. Results PWS improved slightly all patients but no significant...

Sentinel node (SN) status is the most important prognostic indicator in patients with cutaneous melanoma without clinically evident metastatic spread, but procedure associated considerable morbidity. The LYVE-1 lymphatic marker offers possibility of studying lymphangiogenesis and tumour metastasis within primary excision. To establish whether vessel numbers/distribution correlated SN status. To assess cells were easily demonstrable lymphatics could be used as a surrogate for status.Double...
