Abstract We present the performance of a full-length prototype ALICE Forward Calorimeter (FoCal). The detector is composed silicon-tungsten electromagnetic sampling calorimeter with longitudinal and transverse segmentation (FoCal-E) about 20 X 0 hadronic copper-scintillating-fiber (FoCal-H) 5 λ int . data were taken in various test beam campaigns between 2021 2023 at CERN PS SPS lines hadron beams up to energies 350 GeV, electron 300 GeV. Regarding FoCal-E, we report comprehensive analysis...
We demonstrate the room-temperature operation of a silicon nanoelectromechanical resonant-body field effect transistor (RB-FET) embedded into phase-locked loop (PLL). The very-high frequency resonator uses on-chip electrostatic actuation and transistor-based displacement detection. heterodyne down-conversion based on resistive FET mixing provides feedback signal with high signal-to-noise ratio. identify key parameters for PLL operation, analyze performance RB-FET at system level. Used as...
Nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) offer the potential to revolutionize fundamental methods employed for signal processing in today's telecommunication systems, owing their spectral purity and prospect of integration with existing technology. In this work we present a novel, front-end receiver topology based on single device silicon nanoelectromechanical mixer-filter. The operation is demonstrated by using amplification field effect transistor (FET) merged into tuning fork resonator....
Cryogenic electric machines (CEMs) offer significant potential for highly power-dense and ultra-efficient net-zero aircraft. Aluminum (Al) displays superior conductivity to copper (Cu) at cryo-temperatures, making Al Litz wires an attractive option CEM windings minimize DC eddy losses. However, accurately quantifying wire losses remains challenging, particularly considering their unknown electromagnetic behavior different cryo-temperatures frequencies when embedded in iron cores. To address...
This paper presents an advanced numerical analysis of novel hybrid silicon/SiC multiple cascode configuration. The approach is exemplified through a three device Configuration, whereby 5-20V silicon MOSFET blocks lateral medium voltage 60-100V SiC JFET, which in turn reverse biases the gate vertical high (/spl ges/1.2kV) JFET. Furthermore, elegant solution for part also presented. A fully integrated cascoded JFETs chip proposed and numerically demonstrated. results obtained mixed mode...
Low power n-channel fully depleted local-SOI FinFET integrated sensors have been developed and validated for the amplification of pH sensing signals. A simple architecture with one connected as depletion-mode load another driving sensor, provides a maximum readout gain 6.6 V/V sensitivity 185 mV/pH, at 2 V operation. By comparing proposed amplifier single threshold voltage shift is shown to be 4.4 times larger. High-k dielectric HfO <sub xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"...

The breakdown-voltage-limiting edge effects of Schottky diodes are analysed, with special emphasis on the planar Schottky-diode structure. numerical two-dimensional calculation field distribution in this structure shows that breakdown voltage can be increased by appropriate design ; cannot, however, reach its bulk value because it is limited and dependent shape oxide cut resulting from photolithographic processes. Computer-calculated normalized plots given which used diodes.
A computer programme is presented which calculates the field distribution and critical in a gate-controlled diode structure. The procedure consists of an over-relaxation potential/field calculation with boundary conditions (junction breakdown voltage at given gate voltage) resulting from experimental measurements on specially processed diodes. eliminates idealization infinite doping highly doped side junction (as encountered previous works) gives magnitude angle distributions silicon-silicon...

The avalanche injection in silicon gate-controlled diodes is analysed terms of the physical theory hot electrons as developed by Bartelink, Moll and Meyer. Numerically computed universal plots are given for calculation hot-carrier ratio ηi (gate current over junction current) at maximum interface electric field breakdown, \mathscrE. \mathscrE=1.4×106 V/cm experimentally determined, which substantially higher than previously reported values. ηi≈2×10-3 measured, good agreement with calculated value.
