Abstract Background A variety of minimally invasive techniques are available for the treatment varicose great saphenous vein (GSVs). Non-tumescent, non-thermal ablation methods have been developed. This study compared mechanochemical (MOCA), a non-tumescent, technique, with two endovenous thermal requiring tumescence in an RCT. Methods Patients GSV reflux were randomized to undergo MOCA, or laser (EVLA) radiofrequency (RFA). The primary outcome measure was occlusion rate at 1 year. Results...

Acute limb ischemia (ALI) is a vascular emergency requiring prompt intervention to prevent loss and mortality. Treatment strategies have evolved from open surgical revascularization (OSR) thrombolysis-dominated endovascular therapy (EVT) advanced thrombectomy devices hybrid approaches, yet optimal management remains debated. The PROMOTE-ALI study evaluates contemporary treatment practices, factors influencing modality selection, short-term outcomes in ALI across Europe. registry included...

ObjectiveBovine pericardial patch (BPP) is currently used in femoral angioplasty as an alternative for autologous vein (AVP), but studies comparing the results of two methods are scarce. In this retrospective study, we aimed to discover differences between BPP and AVP closure long-term durability.MethodsThis study consisted all endarterectomies with performed Helsinki University Hospital from January 1, 2014, December 31, 2017. For comparison, same number consecutive patients who underwent...

Large language models and artificial intelligence (AI) based chatbots have brought new insights in healthcare, but they also raise major concerns. Their applications vascular surgery scarcely been investigated to date. This international survey aimed evaluate the perceptions feedback from surgeons on use of AI surgery. open e-survey comprised 50 items that covered participant characteristics, their surgery, user experience. The risk of rupture for a large (≥ 55 mm) abdominal aortic aneurysm(AAA) is significant and therefore operative treatment should take place before possible aneurysm rupture. Timing elective AAA surgery has rarely been investigated previously. aim this study to evaluate success in the process AAAs from referral Helsinki University Central Hospital. We retrospectively analyzed all 361 patients who were assigned during 2005 - 2010. We divided into subgroups according size aneurysm: <60 mm, 61 70...

Objective The study aimed to investigate the reliability of a portable toe pressure (TP) photoplethysmography device (PPG) by comparing it stationary laser Doppler flowmeter (LD) used in Helsinki University Hospital. evaluated if lower limb arterial circulation could be reliably with PPG which is more affordable and mobile than LD. Methods TPs were measured from 102 toes 54 patients vascular surgery outpatient clinic, ward interventional radiology recovery According protocol twice device. If...

Abstract Six grades of tall oil pitch (TOP) were subjected to extraction by n‐hexane and subsequent adsorption SiO 2 ‐activated carbon blend. Treated samples contained 32.9–48.4% free acids, 24.2–35.0% esterified 25.0–36% unsaponifiable neutral compounds. Each the above fractions was analyzed high resolution gas chromatography. The portion insoluble in 83.9% 10.6% 5.5% compounds, indicating enrichment acidic compounds this fraction. decolorizing effect observed all treated TOP grades.

Abstract The reaction between six tall oil pitch (TOP) grades and Desmodur N Isocyanate was followed by IR spectroscopy decrease of NCO absorption in the film cast from mixture. Time‐conversion curves show that reactivities three TOP are same magnitude up to 50% conversion, while other considerably slower rates were observed. In most catalyzed reactions 90% conversion completed during 14 days. Development tensile properties films sequence indicates formation polymers. Hypothetical routes for...
