Abstract Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) flesh is typically colorless or pale green. Flesh with yellow orange pigment, determined mainly by carotenoid content and composition, mostly found in semi-wild Xishuangbanna cucumber, which has a very narrow genetic background.
