We have fabricated the first optical quality polymer films of aromatic ladder polymers having an unbroken conjugated backbone, and find third-order nonlinear susceptibilities two orders magnitude larger than CS2. The nonlinearities respond in less 6 ps. Although we their space symmetry to agree with that expected for a nonresonant electronic nonlinearity, mechanism may well depend on lattice motion. are stable rugged at room temperature. also develop analyze simple form degenerate four-wave...

The linear and angular accelerometers are widely used to measure the basic dynamic parameters in various aspects. However, current calibration methods for determining their sensitivities quite independent. This study investigates a monocular vision method with excitation generation device, which can simultaneously determine sensitivities. utilizes improved Lucy–Richardson edge enhancement line segment detection extraction improve accuracy. Comparison experiments conventional show that...

Both the aerospace and marine industry have widely relied on a honeycomb sandwich structure (HSS) because of its high strength-to-weight ratio. However, intrinsic nature an adhesively bonded multi-layer increases risk debonding when is under strain or exposed to varying temperatures. Such defects are normally concealed surface but can significantly compromise strength stiffness structure. In this paper, guided wave method used detect debondings which located between skin in plates. The...

An important property of natural images contributing to a retinal ganglion cell's (RGC) responses is the temporal modulation mean intensity (contrast) in receptive field (RF) center. However, these exhibit significant amount variability. This variability could arise part from spatial variation RF center, i.e., their local distribution or visual texture. We tested five predictions derived this hypothesis: First, tend increase with variance texture images. Second, skewed intensities leads...

The optimal condition of polysilicon ferric chloride (PFSC) flocculant was established by thinking the factors , such as Si/Fe molar ratios, the reaction temperature and pH value solution. When ratio Si Fe = 1, 0.6, curing at 30 ~40 °C, poly dosage 0.75mg/L, rate turbidity removal seawater is up to 96.5%. Experimental results show that effect obvious.

Third order nonlinear optical properties of organic ladder copolymer (POL) system is studied using degenerate four-wave mixing with picosecond laser pulse. Both the real and imaginary part third susceptibility (3) were determined by a new phase conjugate interferometric method over wavelength range 532 - 720 nm. From space symmetry dependence -) we attribute observed nonlinearity to photoexcitation bipolarion states in this system.

Understanding responses of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) to natural images is interest in vision research. RGCs' properties may be different when mapped with versus artificial stimuli. For instance, annuli homogeneous intensity, surround inhibition receptive fields (RFs) can reduce by more than 50% (1). Will produce as much stimulated images? We attempted answer this question recording rabbit RGCs a large sample images. used three methods estimate the level inhibition: First, we estimated...

Failure modes, White Etching Cracks (WECs) and Areas (WEAs), ap-pear prevalently in rolling contact bearings. There is still a lack of efficient methods to identify such failure modes as early possible before the visible crack appears on bearing surface. In this article, comparison was done between measured opera-tional deflection shapes (ODS) from with without WECs WEAs. The measurement obtained by using self-designed vibrometer robot system. A modal shaker used excite bearing. Cross...

We used picosecond degenerate four-wave mixing technique to study acoustic properties of the laser induced ultrasonic sound wave in optical filter glasses. Ultrasonic velocity and absorption were measured over frequency range (100 MHz -20 GHz) we found dependence these glass are quantitative disagreement with prediction two-level system relaxation model. In additional coefficients various photoelastic thermal constants materials can be determined accurately by this method.
