Calculating single event effect (SEE) rates is essential to ensure space mission reliability. Standard methods rely on ground data, which not fully representative of the radiation environment. In this article, we evaluate these using SEE data collected during 5.5 years from upset (SEU) and latch-up (SEL) monitors aboard Alphasat spacecraft in geostationary orbit.

We studied the heavy-ion single event effect response of 3D NAND Flash memory cells with charge-trap based replacement gate technology. Error cross sections, threshold voltage shifts, and underlying mechanisms are discussed. The behavior is compared previous generations floating architecture, both planar 3D. cell array structure, technology parameters, materials impacting on radiation susceptibility different types

A heavy-ion beam monitor based on 3-D NAND flash memories was designed and tested with heavy ions at high energy low linear transfer (LET). The capability of measuring fluence, angle, uniformity, LET impinging particles is discussed, together the advantages over SRAM-based implementations. We propose ad hoc algorithms for extraction parameters, only user-mode commands. validation system using low-LET ionizing different angles presented. Experimental results show very good efficiency accuracy.

In order to have an independent, repeatable, consistent, and flexible method assess compare heavy ion beams produced by different irradiation facilities, a system has been developed in ESA laboratories acquire analyze the energy spectra of beams. This based on silicon detector is composed degrader allow acquisition several measurement points. By coupling this with simulation, it would be theoretically possible identify species.

We studied the secondary byproducts created by high-energy protons inside a single-event upset (SEU) detector based on 3-D NAND Flash memories, extending previously developed methodology used for detecting heavy ions. The radiation response of SEU monitor was discussed as function proton energy, analyzing parameters such number clusters per particle, cluster size, and angle generated secondaries. results provide interesting insight into nuclear reactions occurring in state-of-the-art...

The NewSpace era has drastically increased the use of COTS (Commercial-off-the-shelf Components) to cover needs new requirements: lower costs, shorter lead times, and better performances. However, radiation risks associated with non-radiation hardened components are especially relevant in this context. Therefore, approaches must be considered necessary address challenge for assurance hardness. This work presents standard parameterized databases how they can used numerically assess critical...
