ABSTRACT Proficient use of multiple fingers across both hands enables complex interactions with the world. Developing dexterity for delicate bimanual tasks can take weeks to years master. This study examines whether a simple mechanical abstraction enhance response times visual stimuli using index and thumbs. A plate placed over buttons was introduced shift task conceptualization—rather than pressing buttons, subjects rocked them. Following this augmentation, we observed improved performance...

Proficient use of multiple fingers across both hands to manipulate objects empowers our daily interactions with the world. Gaining dexterity in performing delicate tasks can take weeks years master. The goal this study is understand if simple mechanical abstraction could improve performance on bimanual response time visual stimuli, using index and thumbs. A plate placed over buttons was introduced induce a new conceptualization task, where instead pressing buttons, subjects were rocking...

Visual transect counting of large-bodied fish using artificial light at night in a shallow littoral zone (<1 m water depth) is introduced as complementary survey method for fishes such common bream Abramis brama and northern pike Esox lucius that are under-represented standard gillnet surveys. The results suggest applying necessary corrections environmental variables could provide simple repeatable to assess the presence abundance lakes with satisfactory clarity.
