ABSTRACT Electrophysiological studies suggest that motoneurone B19 in the buccal ganglia of Helisoma makes monosynaptic, cholinergic connections with supralateral radular tensor (SLT) muscle mass. Serotonin (5-HT) and small cardioactive peptide B (SCPB) were found to have peripheral modulatory effects on this motor pathway are consistent their previously described central facilita tory effects. Both neurotransmitters, when applied exogenously (10−6moll−1) isolated ganglion-buccal...

The impetus for future array antenna systems has revolved around the demands increased capabilities in antennas including larger arrays higher power and better angular resolution, wide bandwidths, reconfigurability operating frequencies. In order to move microwave photonics technology beyond proof-of-concept phase compete with alternate approaches, community must be quicker grasp issues involved. This paper surveys some of techniques optical control antennas, addresses system-level insertion...
A photonic analog-to-digital (A/D) link with third-order distortion suppression is proposed and demonstrated. Experimental results single-and two-tone analog input signals a one giga-sample per second (GSPS) A/D system 500-MHz instantaneous bandwidth are presented. The application of simple time-domain linearization scheme in approaching 30 dB allows optical modulation depths over 80%.
The stability of annealed proton exchange waveguides and devices in LiTaO3 is examined by monitoring the output power ratio passive directional couplers. This shown to be an extremely sensitive technique for measuring waveguide stability. Mode propagation constants planar near-field mode sizes losses channel are also measured as a function time. Data from these measurements indicate that refractive index profile unstable continuously evolves even relatively long anneal times. instabilities...
The major reason for prenatal diagnosis lies in the detection of trisomies, particularly trisomy 21 (Down's syndrome). Current techniques require lengthy laboratory procedures and high costs. Furthermore, is often not possible if sample small size or contaminated. An alternative method, quantitative fluorescent polymerase chain reaction (PCR) short tandem repeats (STRs), can also be used to diagnose trisomies it has advantage that a result obtained within five eight hours. However, this...
A photonic analog-to-digital converter with a binary optical output was constructed. The architecture scheme is pipeline converter, employing phase modulators and polarization-based optics. result analog signal processor that maps an input waveform into output. operational speed of the conversion primarily limited by maximum slew rate modulators.
