Focal slowing on the EEG is often associated with structural pathology of brain. Despite clinical significance focal slowing, actual electrochemical mechanisms underlying this phenomenon are still poorly understood. This paper briefly reviews role lactate in pathogenesis brain disorders that primarily related to slowing. An attempt made trace hypothetical link between pattern and cerebral tissue lactacidosis.

The Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development-third edition (Bayley-III) is one the most widely used tools for assessing child development, adapted versions this instrument have been successfully in many countries. No comprehensive psychometric studies Bayley-III yet performed Russia. This study was part longitudinal conducted by Ural Federal University 2016-2020. Within project, original manual translated into Russian then a cohort 333 infants to assess cognition, expressive/receptive...

Introduction. There is currently no universal comprehensive measurement tool for the assessment of children development in Russian Federation (RF). The Bayley-III scales developed by American researchers are widely used as such a tool. Numerous research groups recognize need to modify original before using them new linguistic and socio-cultural environment.

Preterm birth is the leading cause of newborn deaths in almost all countries around world. Whilst survivors encounter severe motor, cognitive and behavioral impairments during infancy or later their lives, studies recent years have demonstrated that social development serving a basis for learning cognition environment human infants can be severely affected even normally developing preterm born children (gestational age < 37 weeks). The current article presents discussion on as well...

This study was aimed to assess electrophysiological brain activity in newborns of various gestational ages using electroencephalography (EEG). We summarized the data on main EEG characteristics premature infants and their dynamics described most common pathological changes that can be identified at this age. also discussed prognostic value neonatal patterns (including proportion location), which allow verification functional disorders early stages.

Sleep spindles are thalamocortical oscillations with waxing-waning morphology, which comprise the key electroencephalographic (EEG) hallmark of stage 2 non-rapid eye movement sleep. The functional role sleep is not sufficiently clear, but there a large body literature that indicates relationship between spindle activity and neural plasticity. Many parameters (frequency, configuration, duration, density, topography) vary significantly throughout life. However, long asynchrony sharp morphology...
