Abstract. Understanding past and present hydrosystem feedbacks to global ocean–atmospheric interactions represents one of the main challenges preventing droughts, extreme events, related human catastrophes in face warming, especially arid semiarid environments. In eastern Africa, El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) was identified as primary drivers precipitation variability affecting water availability. However, northern East African Rift System (EARS) still suffers from underrepresentation...
Development of archaeological "virtual surveys" using online satellite imagery allows the identification an increasing number and diversity data. Coherent procedures are now essential in preparation any field study: estimating potential, gathering mapping environmental features, building hypotheses about settlement location patterns. In this article, we propose methods aimed at developing tools to describe measure different elements pastoral structures southern Syria, quantifying importance...

The development of complex spatial-referencing (geomatic) tools gives rise in archaeology to information systems which result from the specific products spatial information, data structures, thematic analyses, and particular scales methods analysis. In effect, GIS allow processing archaeological organised on basis nature data, at several (an excavation, town, micro-region, region etc.). functions available these new exploitation give birth multiple maps. acquisition is facilitated by linkage...
