To study the outcome of penetrating keratoplasty (PK) in eyes undergoing simultaneous insertion or repositioning a glaucoma drainage device (GDD) through pars plana. The medical records all patients who underwent PK and primary placement GDD plana from April 1, 1997, December 2005, were reviewed. Intraocular pressure (IOP) control was defined as maintenance IOP > = 5 < 21 mm Hg (without loss light perception vision needing further surgery). Kaplan-Meier life table survival analysis used to...

The purpose was to report a case of novel approach for the removal central interface epithelial ingrowth caused by perforating corneal injury 6 years after laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).Access large area under LASIK flap achieved through wound tract from injury. Suturing similar manner commonly carried out peripherally then performed prevent recurrent ingrowth. The offending removed with no recurrence over 1-year follow-up.This is, our knowledge, first reported tract.

This study assessed the performance of short-course ciprofloxacin for treatment 34 adult patients with culture-positive typhoid fever. Patients received ciprofloxacin, 750 mg orally twice daily 7 d. Measurement response was based upon time from initial to fever lysis, afebrile state, and symptom resolution. Ciprofloxacin-treated defervesced in a mean 3.21 d (+/- 0.56), stabilization temperature 4.0 +/- 0.73 After 90 follow-up, no relapse or carrier identified. Side effects during therapy...
