The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between home modifications and aging-in-place. Using ENABLE-AGE United Kingdom sample (N = 376), authors hypothesize that seniors who have modified their housing are likely stayed longer in current housing. There a positive results underscore importance supportive environment prolong living settings.

This paper represents a robust backstepping tracking control based on Lyapunov redesign for Skid-Steered Wheeled Mobile Robots (WMRs). We present kinematic and dynamic models that explicitly relate the perturbations to skidding in order improve performance during real running. A controller is synthesized approach technique, which forces error dynamics stabilize reference trajectories. design an additional feedback - such overall stabilizes actual system presence of uncertainty perturbation...
The purpose of this qualitative transcendental phenomenological research study was: 1) To assess students' ability to identify connections in design between clothing and buildings by analyzing similar characteristics late Victorian (the 1890s) (interior or exterior) 2) examine experiences using Mida Kim's (2015) framework. We employed a collaborative cross-disciplinary approach found that it enabled students iteration 1 draw benefited from collaboration. Students both iterations felt the...

The formation of shallow, ultra-low resistance, Pd/Si solid-phase regrowth (SPR) ohmic contacts to n-In0.53Ga0.47As epilayers ND=1×1017 cm−3 and ND=3×1019 is demonstrated. resulting specific contact resistances 9×10−8 Ω cm2 1.8×10−8 cm2, respectively, are the lowest demonstrated for SPR n-InGaAs. An optimum atomic ratio 1.5 found be essential achieving low resistance. A low-temperature, two-step, rapid thermal annealing process has been employed activate InGaAs consistently achieve shallow...
A major task ahead for South Korea is to create age-friendly communities and environments that can support older residents' health, well-being, quality of life. To end, international partnerships have emerged share information, assess need, develop response strategies. In this study, the transferability a US-developed community resident survey, based on WHO framework, was tested in two Korean cities by comparing results same survey conducted US city. Descriptive, relational, predictive...
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between neighborhood built environment (NBE) aspects age-friendly cities and communities (AFCCs) social capital in Korean context. We described compared age differences when analyzing misfits AFCC NBE impacts on capital. collected data (N = 1246) from two communities; our multiple binary logistic regression outcomes show that such as outdoor spaces, transportation, housing are significant predictors different subcategories For...
As the size of older US population continues to rise, need understand their housing needs and wants is increasing. The purpose this article was review recent research on for adults. We conducted an analysis three peer‐reviewed journal articles published between 2001 2018 using a consumer perspective. Findings suggested four areas have been studied as follows: behavior (e.g., aging‐in‐place); perception satisfaction); policy affordability inadequacy); design features. Implications future...
The purpose of this study was to identify important aspects residential environments on housing satisfaction among Korean American elders. Using Shea and Inman's ecological model for the assessment older adults, research utilized subjective perceptions various their as an intervening variable predict satisfaction. A total 177 elders participated in study. In analysis quantitative data collected 2003 using a self-administered questionnaire, psychological (a sense belonging one's neighborhood)...
The fear of crime refers to the being a victim potential crimes. This often restricts normal daily activities and lowers quality life. For elderly people, has practical effect on their activities. Thus, study been one important subjects in victimization study. However, since there was no common agreement definition among researchers, methodological issues measuring have debated for decades. methods that are most frequently used rime surveys interviews. These inherent limitations particularly...

Fire safety is essential in all buildings. Hazardous fires can result injuries, death, and property damage. Necessary appropriate regulations/policies building designs for preventing from starting buildings should be the first place. However, practical efficient evacuation plans need to developed case of fire. Developing such requires an understanding human behaviours during fires. Human have been studied using various methods as interviews, video footage, full demonstrations with...
Worldwide the number of people over age 60 years is rapidly increasing. Many communities are challenged to make their more walkable and friendly. Addressing trend, this study investigated two major metropolitan regions' policies regarding livability examined how case housing sites practiced walkability for seniors in Twin Cities Metropolitan Area Minnesota, United States, Vancouver British Columbia, Canada. Analyses show that Canadian case, policy was explicitly age-friendly requiring senior...
ABSTRACT The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the meaning livability from perspectives policymakers and practitioners engaged in creating livable communities for older adults. In a comparison two regions, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota, United States, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, Korea, 4 themes emerged—affordability, safety, accessibility, active engagement. both research participants recognized that core community consumer-driven approach collaborations with various partners....

As the number of older adults who want to age in place increases, communities have faced with new opportunities and challenges. Many local governments ensure age-friendly environments that allow residents be independent fully participate their community. Walkability is used measure built environmental aspects enable our support active aging. In this research note, author examines existing studies assessed association between impacts objectively measured neighborhood environment adults'...
The purpose of this paper was to examine rural-urban differences in aging Korea. study based on data collected from Jeju Island, South sample (N=350) divided into rural and urban areas; we compared demographic housing characteristics, health-related variables associated with place. Seniors living areas were less educated younger than those areas. In addition, seniors likely own their house, live single-family housing, have lived longer at current housing. However, they struggle more chronic...
