A novel mercapto-grafted rice straw (RS-GM) was synthesized and characterized against raw (RS-Raw). The RS-GM yielded a better Hg(II) biosorption performance compared to RS-Raw as the incorporated-mercaptan functional group presented strong affinity toward Hg(II). isotherm data correlated well with Langmuir model having maximum capacity, qmax of 103.10 mg/g 161.30 for RS-GM, respectively. is thermodynamically feasible, endothermic, spontaneous in nature. kinetic were best-fitted into...

This paper presents the study of adsorption characteristics sulfur-functionalized silica microspheres (S-SMs), synthesized through co-condensation tetraethyl orthosilicate with 3-mercaptopropyl trimethoxysilane (MPTMS) and bis(triethoxysilylpropyl) tetrasulfide (BTESPT) as sulfur ligands, respect to removal Hg(II) from aqueous solutions. The adsorbents were characterized using a scanning electron microscope, an X-ray diffractometer, nitrogen adsorption–desorption analyzer, Fourier transform...

Lignocellulosic coconut wastes such as pith and fiber, which are abundantly available cheap, have the potential of being used low-cost biosorbents for heavy metal ion removal. In this study, pristine (CF-Pristine) NaOH-treated (CF-NaOH) fibers were a biosorbent Hg(II) removal from an aqueous solution. The fiber (CFB) was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) Fourier transform-infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. sorption capacities obtained CF-Pristine CF-NaOH 144.4 135.0 mg/g,...

Desiccated coconut waste sorbent (DCWS), a byproduct of milk processing, was studied as for Hg(II) sorption. Energy dispersive X-ray analysis indicated that the DCWS mainly contained C, N, and O, while Fourier transform infrared measurements confirmed existence hydroxyl, carboxyl, amine groups on surface. The point zero charge (pHpzc) cation-exchange capacity (CEC) values were 6.05 2.02 meq/100g, respectively. batch equilibrium data fitted well by Langmuir isotherm model with maximum...

The persistence of antibiotics in sewage wastewater treatment plants recent years has emerged as a serious issue. This study therefore evaluated three types natural zeolites (i.e., NZ01, NZ02, and NZ03) for the removal selected namely tetracycline (TC) oxytetracycline (OTC) from aqueous solution. physical chemical properties were characterized using various analytical techniques antibiotic studies carried out batch adsorption experiment at experimental conditions. highest capacity was 62.5...

Desiccated coconut waste (DCW) is an agricultural that originates from the milk processing industry. In this study, it was utilized for removal of copper (Cu(II)) and nickel (Ni(II)) via adsorption process. The physicochemical characterization DCW adsorbent shows have a surface area 6.63 m2/g, high elemental carbon content existences important functional groups on its surface. adsorptive capability in removing heavy metal were conducted batch studies. performed highest...

Abstract Rasped pith sago residue (RPSR) was used as a biosorbent for inorganic (Hg(II)) and organic (CH 3 Hg(I)) mercury removal from aqueous solutions. In preparation, the RPSR having particle size range of 0.06–0.10 washed with deionized water repeatedly to eliminate impurities, dried in an oven at 50°C two days, followed drying vacuum h. The performance novel removing evaluated batch adsorption. adsorption ions found highly dependent on pH Hg(II) high > 4, while CH Hg(I) higher <...

Abstract Immobilized nanoscale zero‐valent iron on natural zeolite (NI‐NZ) was synthesized for remediation of antibiotics‐contaminated wastewater. A series characterization methods confirmed the success preventing agglomeration particles, using as supporting media. The equilibrium data fitted well with Langmuir and Temkin models, whereas pseudo‐second‐order Elovich kinetic models were suitable to describe data. versatility NI‐NZ also tested in a coagulation‐flocculation process which...
