Plant essential oils from 26 plant species were tested for their insecticidal activities against the Japanese termite, Reticulitermes speratus Kolbe, using a fumigation bioassay. Responses varied with source, exposure time, and concentration. Among tested, strong activity was observed of ajowan ( Trachyspermum ammi ), allspice Pimenta dioica caraway Carum carvi dill Anethum graveolens geranium Pelargonium litsea Litsea cubeba ). The composition six identified by gas chromatography-mass...

Abstract Commercial plant essential oils obtained from 11 Myrtaceae species were tested for their antifungal activity against Phytophthora cactorum, Cryponectria parasitica and Fusarium circinatum. Good cactorum was achieved with the oil derived Leptospermum petersonii at 28 × 10 −3 mg/ml air concentration. Inhibition rates of Eucalyptus citriodora Melaleuca quinquenervia 35.4% 33.6% concentration, respectively. In a test C. , inhibition E. L. 29.4% 38.5%, Only showed F. circinatum ....

Commercial essential oils from 28 plant species were tested for their nematicidal activities against the pine wood nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus. Good activity B. xylophilus was achieved with of coriander (Coriandrum sativum), Oriental sweetgum (Liquidambar orientalis), and valerian (Valeriana wallichii). Analysis by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry led to identification 26, 11, 4 major compounds wallichii) oils, respectively. Compounds each oil individually nematode. Among...

Red clover (Trifolium pratense) possesses various dietary compounds that improve human health. However, the functions of anthocyanins in red remain unclear. Here we examined anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects extract (RC) fraction (RCA) using lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-treated RAW 264.7 macrophages identified compounds. RC RCA suppressed LPS-induced expression genes such as tumor necrosis factor (TNF)α, interleukin (IL)1β, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), monocyte chemoattractant...

Sargassum species, a group of marine brown algae consumed in Asian countries, have shown various health benefits, such as improving the conditions cardiovascular disease, osteoarthritis, and hypopigmentation. Also, these benefits are associated with their phenolic content strong antioxidant capacities. However, capacities different species had not been thoroughly explored compared. Thus, this study aimed to compare total contents, flavonoid capacities, anti-tyrosine activity eleven harvested...

Background: Displacement is an important risk factor for nonunion of scaphoid wrist fractures. We compared computed tomography with radiographs regard to their ability detect displacement. Methods: Six blinded observers rated thirty fractures (ten displaced and twenty nondisplaced) use tomography. The were evaluated separately from the scans then, in a third evaluation, two imaging studies reviewed simultaneously. evaluations repeated four weeks later. Observers asked evaluate specific...
