It has been hypothesized that suppression of bone remodeling allows microdamage to accumulate, leading increased fragility. This study evaluated the effects reduced turnover produced by bisphosphonates on accumulation and biomechanical properties cortical in dog rib. Thirty-six female beagles, 1-2 years old, were divided into three groups. The control group (CNT) was treated daily for 12 months with saline vehicle. remaining two groups risedronate (RIS) at a dose 0.5 mg/kg per day or...

Despite the importance of type I interferon (IFN-I) in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) pathogenesis, mechanisms IFN-I production have not been fully elucidated. Recognition nucleic acids by DNA sensors induces and interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs), but involvement cyclic guanosine monophosphate (GMP)-AMP synthase (cGAS) stimulator (STING) SLE remains unclear. We studied role cGAS-STING pathway IFN-I-producing cascade driven serum. We collected sera from patients with (n=64), other...

The causality and pathogenic mechanism of microbiome composition remain elusive in many diseases, including autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This study aimed to elucidate gut microbiome's role RA pathology by a comprehensive metagenome-wide association (MWAS).We conducted MWAS the Japanese population (ncase=82, ncontrol=42) using whole-genome shotgun sequencing high depth (average 13 Gb per sample). Our consisted three major bioinformatic analytic pipelines...

Cortical porosity in patients with hyperparathyroidism has raised the concern that intermittent parathyroid hormone (PTH) given to treat osteoporotic may weaken cortical bone by increasing its porosity. We hypothesized treatment of ovariectomized (OVX) cynomolgus monkeys for up 18 months recombinant human PTH(1-34) [hPTH(1-34)] LY333334 would significantly increase midshaft humerus but not have a significant effect on strength or stiffness humerus. also withdrawal PTH 6 after 12-month period...

Study Design. Cross-sectional regional bone mineral density of the pedicle was measured by peripheral quantitative computed tomography. Biomechanical tests were performed to clarify role in screw stability. Objectives. To identify structural characteristics that supports stability and differences these between normal osteoporotic vertebrae. Summary Background Data. The is an essential component many systems used align spine. contribution stability, however, has not been fully investigated....

Objective. SSc is an autoimmune disease characterized by fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Although aetiology remains uncertain, many reports have suggested that IL-6 involved in pathogenesis. Tocilizumab, anti-IL-6 receptor antibody, anti-arthritis medicine works through blockade functions. To examine effect tocilizumab on SSc, we administered to two patients. Methods. Two dcSSc patients were at 8 mg/kg once a month for 6 months. One patient had pulmonary assessed CT spirometry,...

Abstract Objectives: This study aims investigates real-world data on the demographics, prescribing practices, and healthcare costs of juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) with polyarthritis or oligoarthritis compared to rheumatoid (RA) patients in adolescents young adults. Methods: Data from Japan Medical Center (JMDC) claims database for fiscal years (FY) 2016–2020 were analyzed. Intermittent administration of parathyroid hormone (PTH) has an anabolic effect in cancellous bone osteoporotic humans. However, the PTH on cortical with Haversian remodeling remains controversial. The aim this study was to determine effects biosynthetic human PTH(1-34) histology and mechanical properties rabbits, which exhibit remodeling. Mature New Zealand white rabbits were treated once daily injections vehicle, or PTH(1-34), LY333334, at 10 micrograms/kg/day 40 for 140 days. Body weight...

Two-photon absorption (2PA) cross section values in water were determined as 7500 GM for 7900 bisporphyrin by femtosecond open-aperture Z-scan measurement. A 47-year-old female patient with Behçet's disease had been treated colchicine, prednisolone, cyclosporine A, and infliximab. Because she relapsed, however, treatment tocilizumab, a humanized anti-interleukin 6 receptor antibody, was started. This suppressed the patient's clinical manifestations, including ocular attacks, for 1 year improved her visual acuity. experience indicates that tocilizumab may constitute therapeutic option refractory disease.
