Thalidomide is active in patients with refractory myeloma. Seventeen (nine men/eight women, median age 73 years) multiple myeloma (MM) were treated thalidomide. Fifteen had disease and two untested relapse. The dose of thalidomide was 500 mg (range, 200–800 mg). Nine the 17 (53%) responded. response rate significantly higher no extramedullary than those soft tissue masses (75% CI: 43–95% versus 0%; P = 0·01)). Of note, decrease size plasmacytomas observed all five who involvement. This data...

Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia (WM) is a rare lymphoma with distinct clinical features, and data from Latin American patients are lacking. Therefore, we aim to investigate the clinical, therapy, outcome patterns of WM in America. We retrospectively analyzed diagnosed between 1991 2019 24 centers seven countries. The study outcomes were overall survival (OS) progression-free (PFS).We identified 159 cases (median age 67 years, male 62%). Most (95%) symptomatic at diagnosis. International...

Abstract: Background: Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) from human leukocyte antigen (HLA)‐compatible sibling donors is a potential curative treatment for hematological and non‐hematological malignancies. Nevertheless, high mortality rates may be associated with this therapy, especially in older patients, those other comorbidities or who receive second HSCT. Patients methods: We analyzed the factors transplant‐related (TRM) overall survival 157 consecutive adult...

Background and ObjectivesThe transmembrane glycoprotein TREM-1 triggers an inflammatory response. Its soluble fraction (sTREM-1) has been shown to have diagnostic accuracy for late-onset neonatal sepsis (LONS). Until now, the potential of sTREM-1 predict septic shock and/or death in neonates not explored. This study obtained estimates incidence prevalence future sample size calculations confirmatory studies evaluated feasibility using as a predictor with LONS criteria.Study designA pilot...

PURPOSE Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) is an aggressive disease caused by the human leukemia virus type 1. Real-world data of ATLL in Latin America are lacking. PATIENTS AND METHODS We analyzed patients with (acute, lymphomatous, chronic, and smoldering) encountered 11 American countries between 1995 2019. Treatment response was assessed according to 2009 consensus report. Survival curves were estimated using Kaplan-Meier method log-rank test. RESULTS identified 253 patients; 226...

7045 Background: Epstein-Barr virus-positive diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (EBV+ DLBCL), not otherwise specified, is rare in North America and Europe (2–4%) but prevalent Latin (LATAM, 7–14%). Most studies are limited by single-center designs, small cohorts, short follow-up, infrequent rituximab use. Prognostic systems like the International Index (IPI) widely used, yet their predictive power EBV+ DLBCL remains unclear. Additionally, optimal threshold for EBV-encoded RNA (EBER) positivity...

Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a B-cell lymphoid tumor that expresses CD20 and associated with poor prognosis. Central nervous system involvement has been particularly dismal outcome. We report 62-year-old male MCL meningeal lymphomatosis. The patient was treated intrathecal rituximab (IT-R) 25 mg every third day for five doses clearance of after the dose. Systemic therapy consisted R-HyperCVAD alternating rituximab, high-dose methotrexate, cytarabine 21 days, IT-R on 1 each chemotherapy...

BACKGROUND The current study was conducted to analyze the outcome and prognostic factors of patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLCL) who did not achieve a complete response (CR) first-line treatment. METHODS comprised 83 (43 males 40 females median age 62 years) CR (58 whom had primary refractory disease 25 achieved partial response) initial treatment (doxorubicin-containing regimens in 87% cases) from series 239 consecutively diagnosed DLCL at single institution. Thalidomide has been proved to play an important role in rescue treatment of patients with refractory/relapsed multiple myeloma (MM). However, thalidomide therapy is associated numerous side effects, mainly somnolence, constipation, fatigue or peripheral neuropathy. We report three diagnosed MM and treated as salvage who developed severe renal failure when they received aminoglycoside antibiotics. This observation suggests that can potentiate nephrotoxicity antibiotics MM.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is classified into germinal center-like (GCB) and non-germinal (non-GCB) cell-of-origin groups, entities driven by different oncogenic pathways with clinical outcomes. DLBCL classification immunohistochemistry (IHC)-based decision tree algorithms a simpler reported technique than gene expression profiling (GEP). There significant discrepancy between IHC-decision when they are compared to GEP. To address these inconsistencies, we applied the machine...
