In this study, we have characterized the cDNA clone SQ37 that was isolated previously from a rabbit squamous cell library. The gene encodes 14-kDa protein appears to function as component of cross-linked envelope in differentiating cells. protein, which has been named cornifin, high content proline (31%), glutamine (20%), and cysteine (11%) contains 13 repeats an octapeptide (consensus sequence, EPCQPKVP) at its C terminus. mRNA are induced during differentiation tracheal (RbTE) cells human...
A clinic-hospital-based leptospirosis surveillance program was conducted to determine the morbidity and risk factors in nonepidemic settings. The study on two islands, Kauai Hawaii (Big Island), state of for one year during 1988 1989. An active, more comprehensive case detection system used Big Island that enabled us incidence clinical disease. Subjects from both islands were conduct a case-control factors. One hundred seventytwo subjects (who presented with any following symptoms: fever,...
Abstract The pemphigoid group is a category of autoimmune subepidermal blistering diseases in which autoantibodies deposit linearly at the epidermal basement membrane zone ( BMZ ). main subtypes mediated by immunoglobulin G are bullous BP ), mucous MMP ) and epidermolysis bullosa acquisita EBA To establish first guidelines approved Japanese Dermatological Association for management diseases, Committee Guidelines Management Pemphigoid Diseases (Including was founded as part Study Group Rare...
Abstract Aims Increased left atrial pressure leads to pulmonary congestion. Although the B-lines in lung ultrasound (LUS) are useful detecting congestion, data regarding association between and invasive haemodynamics inconsistent. This study aimed explore correlation of B-line count by LUS with capillary wedge (PCWP) stratified for preserved reduced ejection fraction (EF) acute heart failure patients. Methods results We performed a prospective observational on 116 hospitalized patients (mean...
Few studies have provided nationwide, longitudinal data on practice patterns of guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) for heart failure. The authors aimed to clarify the doses and up-titration or discontinuation GDMT following admission acute failure determinants associated with its continuation in Japan. We retrospectively included data, from Japanese nationwide health insurance claims database, patients hospitalized without a recent history hospitalization. Patients initiated GDMTs...
Using polymerasechain reaction and two degenerate primers whose designs were based on the best conserved regions of DNA-binding domain nuclear receptor superfamily, we identified cloned a novel orphan receptor, named TAKl.The open reading frame TAKl encodes protein 596 amino acid residues.Based modular structure presence containing zinc fingers belongs to steroid/thyroid hormone superfamily. The sequence is most closely related TR2-11.Their overall homology 64%, with highest similarity (82%)...
We compared the patterns of keratin 10 (K10) and 17 (K17) expression in epidermoid cysts, trichilemmal eruptive vellus hair steatocystoma multiplex. Epidermoid cysts expressed K10 K17, whereas multiplex showed both K17. Our findings support opinion that which stained negative for K10, are distinct entities not variants one disorder.
Summary Background Glycocalyx collapses during dehydration to produce electron-dense accretions. Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) may be used visualize fully hydrated microbial biofilms. Objectives Using CLSM, analyse glycocalyx production by Staphylococcus aureus cells in skin lesions of bullous impetigo, atopic dermatitis and pemphigus foliaceus. A second objective was compare numbers S. tissue sections prepared different methods for routine light microscopy. Methods were stained...
Causal links have been documented between silica and rheumatoid arthritis, lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis glomerulonephritis. Two different effects of suggested, an enhanced inflammatory response in the pulmonary region (e.g. activation alveolar macrophages) dysregulation autoimmunity. Based on our previous reports showing vitro peripheral T cells by reduced regulatory function CD4 + CD25 fraction which FoxP3 (Treg) are located, reconstitution silicosis patients (SILs) was...
Background: Guideline-directed medical therapy has become an important component of heart failure (HF) therapy, with sacubitril/valsartan as one the recommended drugs; however, real-world prognostic implications uptitration are unclear.
Cornifins/small proline-rich proteins (SPRRs) belong to a family of that function as cornified envelope precursors. We report here an immunohistochemical analysis human cornifin-alpha and -beta expression in several stratified squamous epithelia. In normal skin, was expressed the granular layer epidermis palmoplantar inner lining cells follicular infundibulum, root sheath hair follicle. It also upper layers oral, esophageal, vaginal Cornifin-beta detected epithelia, but not skin. Immunoblot...
Bullous systemic lupus erythematosus (BSLE) is a rare subset of that often associated with autoimmunity to type VII collagen. We describe 45-year-old woman BSLE who presented vesiculobullous lesions as an initial manifestation SLE. The patient first noticed widespread urticarial, erythematous eruption tense blisters, erosions, and crusting. She was diagnosed bullous pemphigoid underwent one-month course treatment betamethazone. Because the appearance marked proteinuria, subsequent renal...
Drug-induced pemphigus (DIP) shows clinical, histopathological and immunological features of pemphigus. However, little is known about profiles in DIP.To characterize clinical patients with DIP.We studied 17 Japanese DIP who were treated at Kurume University Hospital or consulted from other hospitals between 1997 2012. Complicated diseases, manifestations, responsible drugs findings immunofluorescence, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs), immunoblotting (IB) prognosis analysed.Eight...
Early detection and intervention for preclinical heart failure (HF) are crucial restraining the potential increase in patients with HF. Thus, we designed conducted a single-center retrospective cohort study to confirm efficacy of B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) early HF primary care setting.
<title>Abstract</title> Background The prognosis of aortic stenosis (AS) with cardiogenic shock remains poor, and optimal initial treatment unclear. Emergent balloon valvuloplasty (BAV) is a option for salvage recent studies have reported that early release valve obstruction by emergent BAV could improve prognosis. This study aimed to assess the efficacy safety severe AS shock. Methods A total 41 patients in were enrolled divided into (underwent within 12h admission, n = 10) non-emergent...
ABSTRACT Background There have been no prior reports of detailed evaluations using intravascular imaging during Jetstream treatment. Aims This study, therefore, aimed to investigate the effects calcification characteristics and wire bias on lumen gain in atherectomy optical frequency domain (OFDI). Methods study enrolled consecutive patients who underwent OFDI‐guided with 1.85 mm, 2.4 mm blade down (BD), up (BU). Cross‐sections were categorized into three groups based OFDI findings before...
Background: With the aging of population, number patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) and comorbidities is increasing in Japan. Among comorbidities, cardiorenal anemia syndrome (CRAS) particularly important, but age-specific prevalence prognosis CRAS remain unclear.
Heart failure (HF) management has been improved by guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) based on findings of major randomized controlled trials (RCTs). However, the applicability these to real-world HF populations, especially Japan's current super-aged society, remains uncertain. We analyzed for chronic patients from KUNIUMI registry, a prospective observational study conducted Awaji Island, Japan, representative society (aging rate ≈37%). determined what percentage met inclusion...
Although tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is no longer considered a negligible disease, its detailed status in real-world heart failure (HF) patients remains unknown. From the KUNIUMI registry, we evaluated data for 1,646 consecutive HF patients. The primary endpoint was all-cause mortality over median follow-up period of 3.0 years (interquartile range 1.4-3.0 years). Of patients, 369 (22.4%) had moderate or greater TR; mean (±SD) age these 82.0±8.5 years. Atrial functional TR most common...
